daily mail reporting Finn is on close to £600k when he moves. That is 50%+ more than Hogg.

Money driven move presumably.
Brizzle have great heritage, a solid fan base and great ambition with the support of Lansdown but they are a yo-to team and will need major investment to cement their position in the EP.
Harder and harder for the Scottish teams to compete for and retain talent in Europe and so be competitive in European competition.

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread
I think it’s good for a few people to play abroad, and the way it’s worked out this time round (I.e. they’ve played a good few years in Scotland and “earned” their big money move) is fine. I just don’t want too many to go so our pro teams end up relatively crap. I guess while we have two pro teams we have to accept that this will happen and succession planning/ academy development will be paramount.

I dont know why anyone would swap Glasgow for Bristol. In rugby terms that is.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I really hope JG doesn't go Bristol. He has the potential to become one of the best locks in the world. He will not recognise that potential at Bristol.

Having said that I think JG will sign with the Weeg.

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread
What is interesting to me is the JGray is clearly on the open market and it appears only Bristol and the SRU have made a serious money offer to him.
I think he'll sign a 2 year deal with Weeg but stranger things have happened. He's still young, even though he has been a full time pro for a few years, but there may be other circumstances that make him want to leave rather than the obvious money.
Maybe Landsdown and Lam have sold him on their vision to make Bristol competitive within 2-3 years or made promises regarding playing time, other signings (RGray was rumoured too), etc. We also have to remember although the HC and backs coach at Glasgow re quality operators their forwards coach is still JHumph.
Given Finn is on his way out, Hogg surely to follow in 2019 (I can't see how the SRU can match his open market value) he may be thinking now is the time to go too.

I am sure he has more than two offers. Two reported offers is something else entirely.

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread
There are two offers he is considering (allegedly 50/50 on)would indicate that any other offer, presumably from bigger teams aren't up to scratch for whatever reason. I am assuming it is money hence my wording of "serious money offers" not any offers. I highly doubt he'd have ignored say Racing, Montpellier etc if their offer was in the same general ballpark.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:I am sure he has more than two offers. Big Jim reporting that Itoje off to Toulon, i cant see him throwing away his England career but if he did JG would be a very good signing for Sarries

And he'll make a tidy sum too I bet. Was the Itoje rumour on this weeks pod? Not listened to it yet.whatisthejava wrote:I think some agents spread false rumours through him to up their clients walletshugh_woatmeigh wrote:Wish Big Jim would shut his gob. I don't mind him spouting rumours, they are after all just that - rumours.

Great player. He's not far short as it is. Amazing to realize he is still only 23 and has about 12 good years at the top left in him. But a rugby career is still a short one and you can't blame players for wanting to salt away a bit of cash for the future.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Money.Donny osmond wrote:I dont know why anyone would swap Glasgow for Bristol. That’s a decent team in the circumstances, stronger than I expected. Another win would be nice.

Can't believe Sarto isn't playing for Italy.

Is Jacko likely to play this game still? He only got a few mins at the end.

This is f*cking insane.
Sounds like lots of Scots boys on the fringes putting their hands up - Hastings, Horne, Jackson, Cummings, Turner are popping up in the commentary time and time again.
