Crap as SA are, we seem determined to keep them in the game.

It's all strangely slow motion.

This is heading towards a 25-24 RSA win, isn't it?

Any of the othe home nations and that would have been a 40+ point win. I thought we were heading for a good win to start off with but then thet shit happenedBuggaluggs wrote:Holy cow. What a labored constipated turd that win was.

I'm not looking forward to playing Scotland and Ireland in the 6Ns.

This. We just don't have the killer instinct. Ireland would have 50 on them. Oh wait, they did.

Re: Wales v SA
Given our situation, I'd have taken a 2pt win this morning and said thanks very much.
But 21-3 up and we still couldn't kill off a SA team that couldn't find its own arse with both hands. Our passivity in that third quarter was criminal, and so in the end we went from a euphoric romp, to narrowly avoiding what might have been our most crushing defeat ever. Fair play for some guts and smart game management in the last ten, though, when I thought it was perfectly set up for a standard Welsh implosion that never came. Take a bow, Wyn Jones!

Yep. We're caning them 21-3, and you're thinking "I wonder how we fuck THIS one up?" - it drives me effin' barmy.Buggaluggs wrote:Holy cow. What a labored constipated turd that win was.

Need to see it again, but I thought it was penalty wales, and bigger hoofs it down field (an odd advantage played) and SA run it in for 21-10. Had we taken the penalty and played dink & dunk for 3 mins after the lineout we go in 21-3 at the half. As it was we were sloppy either side of halftime and handed momentum to an SA side that really didn't look like they even wanted it.

He is way off form. Back 3 of Liam Williams, North and Amos for me when all are fit.Buggaluggs wrote:½P makes bad decisions with ball in hand
Good debut for Parkes.
Our scrum half order of precedence remains unchanged.
Forwards. Fucking hell that second half was one sided. Thankfully not too many scrums in he danger zone but we leaked enough penalties from the scrum and breakdown to have gifted the game to most teams. Thankfully that was nowhere near our first choice set of forwards.
We won though. Could be worse, for a while I though we were going to piss away a tidy lead.

I wasn't sold, but he's had a very good autumn. He seems to be able to time his runs very wellMikey Brown wrote:I like Amos. Powerful for a 14 year old too.

Re: Wales v SA
He isn’t th quickest on the wing, it the Stef Evans didn’t show that much on the interception either. As it stands, Amos has the habit of finishing moves off nicely and can offload nicely. I thinkStef Evans is a quality player in the making, but Amos is offering more st the moment in attack whilst being sounder in defence. Mix in the running threat of Williams and the power of North and I think that’s a decent back 3 combination.Buggaluggs wrote:I wasn't sold, but he's had a very good autumn. Re: Wales v SA
I said at the start that 2/4 would be a decent return for us given where we were, so I have to stick to that. Wales get a pass mark from me for the Autumn; loads to improve but some small cause for hope. I was hoping we'd unearth a few realistic new options and we seem to have done that.
The real surprises for me have been Navidi and Amos, two players I'll admit I didn't trust before but both look decent now - perhaps not 1st choice, but palatable backup options. Steff Evans and (Controversial Opinion Warning) Owen Williams had a slightly disappointing series, but did nowhere near enough wrong to give up on them yet. The jury is still out on Cory Hill but he's not useless. But yes, in the front five we are in deep, deep shit. I'd have liked to have seen more of Dee, though.

I haven’t seen much of him but he strikes me as your version of Nowell without him being as busy. Which is to say, I don’t think he’ll be anything but ok at test level. Better than Cuthbert, though.Sandydragon wrote:He isn’t th quickest on the wing, it the Stef Evans didn’t show that much on the interception either. Re: Wales v SA
I'll settle for okay, in a back three with Sanjay and one of North/Steff/½p. I wasn't expecting to say that about Amos, so I nod respectfully in his direction.Mellsblue wrote:I haven’t seen much of him but he strikes me as your version of Nowell without him being as busy.
