Looks a reasonable squad and much as expected. Hopefully they can all stay fit for the start of the six nations

Re: 6 Nations Squad
There is the potential there for a very good 23..Id say JD2 is a massive miss for us but the rest we are looking okay
Also the chance to re-enforce the new playing style we want to try and achieve and with a couple more ball carrying forwards.
A bit early for Faletau but we could still be looking at...
L Williams, North, Williams, Parkes, Evans, Biggar, Webb
Evans, Owens, Lee, AWJ, Brad, Moriaty, Tipuric, Navidi
Not sure which one of those 2 would play 6 or 8 mind but still - be happy for any of the back row mixes to be honest with Shingler playing well, Cubby continuing his form and E Jenkins always looking classy.

I think Moriarty would be the man for 8 if fit enough, could we see North at 13 I wonder?MrK wrote:There is the potential there for a very good 23..Id say JD2 is a massive miss for us but the rest we are looking okay

Well done Adams and Davies. Would prefer Hewitt to Cuthbert, but I guess neither would be likely to get a game barring a couple of injuries.
We have the players to beat Scotland, shame about the coaches.

We usually start slow, and Scotland will be good this year. I think we'll need a bit of luck to win the opener.

Halfpenny will be in that squad. Otherwise, that’s quite a likely side, although Owen a Williams might feature as well.MrK wrote:There is the potential there for a very good 23..Id say JD2 is a massive miss for us but the rest we are looking okay

Well it looks like North is being considered at 13, that would allow for a back three of Halfpenny, Evans and Williams, I think with the lack of specialist 13s we could do far worse than by playing North there.Sandydragon wrote:Halfpenny will be in that squad. They really would do better picking Beck if they want another centre.Numbers wrote:Well it looks like North is being considered at 13, that would allow for a back three of Halfpenny, Evans and Williams, I think with the lack of specialist 13s we could do far worse than by playing North there.Sandydragon wrote:Halfpenny will be in that squad. Or indeed Corey Allen, that is if either of them could stay fit for more than 3 matches in a row.Son of Mathonwy wrote:They really would do better picking Beck if they want another centre.Numbers wrote:Well it looks like North is being considered at 13, that would allow for a back three of Halfpenny, Evans and Williams, I think with the lack of specialist 13s we could do far worse than by playing North there.Sandydragon wrote: Halfpenny will be in that squad. Corey Allen looks like he is going to be the forgotten man of Welsh rugby which is a great shame as he is very good when fit and firing, ditto Beck.

Re: 6 Nations Squad
The loss of JD2 is big blow, but Scott Williams to 13 might be a better balance than North. I suppose much will depend on the game plan and where Parkes and Owen Williams fit into the picture. Both had good AIs and bring something different to the team. Now if someone like Owen Williams can create space for North at 13 to exploit then that could be a sight to behold, but I'd be a bit wary about the defence. Owen Williams and Parkes might be a better combo given form, but Im not sure Parkes has the gas for OC at international level.

Bit of unfortunate news for Rhys Priestland out for most of the 6N with an hamstring injury after some great displays for Bath this season.

Patchell's chance? Or would Owen Williams be next in line?Sandydragon wrote:And apparently Biggar has taken a bad knock yesterday.ALunpg wrote:Bit of unfortunate news for Rhys Priestland out for most of the 6N with an hamstring injury after some great displays for Bath this season.

I suspect Anscombe maybe picked, Gatland likes him.Son of Mathonwy wrote:Patchell's chance? I know I only come on here to ask why you’re not playing Patchell but that left to right pass he threw at the weekend was insane.

I was going to add that caveat, yeah.
It’s probably much easier for me to argue you should take the risk when I dearly wish for you to lose every game.

If Patchell does not get a run at 10, he certainly should at 15. On current form he is streets ahead of Halfpenny, who had all the attacking instincts snuffed out of him at Toulon and has not (yet) got them back.Son of Mathonwy wrote:Patchell's chance? Re: 6 Nations Squad
If Biggar is out I think it will be Anscombe but I would like it to be Patchell with Parkes 12 and Williams 13 outside.
Evans or Amos ( is he fit ?) and North on the wings and Sanjay at 15.
However as someone else has already commented Gatland likes Anscombe and he has been in good form as well so that could bring in O.Williams or Watkin to 12 then we have to factor Stan into all of this....
It's a bit like the old football pools...permutate any 7 from 15 .The positive is that they a could cause teams a headache.

Re: 6 Nations Squad
I'd like to see North or Amos at 13, Parkes is the only player in the squad to have played there with consistency and Scott gets caught out in defence sometimes when playing there, I'm not sure either Parkes or SW have the pace for an International 13 either. That would then accommodate Steff Evans and North/Amos on the other wing with Sanjay at Fullback.ALunpg wrote:If Biggar is out I think it will be Anscombe but I would like it to be Patchell with Parkes 12 and Williams 13 outside.

However we know that Halfpenny will be squeezed in somewhere so maybe Amos will be on the bench.
Interestingly all of our wingers are normally left wings tho only Amos and Evans are left footed.
