Re: Solly's Soul Destroyers
The one real cringe worthy bit of play out of a lot of bad play came in the 1st half. Kennedy correctly took a tap penas 5-10m out as there was a 4 on 2 overlap and they then proceeded to put a pass on the ground. Was laughable.OptimisticJock wrote:82 minutes to get the BP against a team that hasn't scored in about 240 minutes llf
I occasionally lurk in the Edinburgh Supporters page. Apparently Edinburgh have tied their most ever wins in the league and are showing "real signs of progress" according to some. Jesus H Christ.

I can't remember the last time I went on there. I'm all for optimism but let's temper it with reality. To be fair to Edinburgh they are winning quite a few games and have become a hard side to beat. Yes, they play a miserable forward-dominated game that wastes what talent they have in the backs, and they have so many defects that are so well neon-signed that you can't work out why Solomans has failed to deal with, but they're in with a shout of a top-six position, and I guess some will regard that as progress.

Re: Solly's Soul Destroyers
If the Edinburgh fan board are saying things like that then they are truly delusional. There are so many problems with that team and the way they play that are not improved upon week on week. They play exactly like they did at the start of the season. They look a little better in attack now that they've stopped playing guys like Tonks, Fife, Cuthbert, Fowles, etc as often and have actually got a fly half... But they are still toothless in attack. It's individual talent that produces those moments.. Ritchie, Bradbury, Hoyland - individual brilliance. As a team they have no plan and no cohesion whatsoever.
RE the finish - Edinburgh have Leinster, Munster and an on-form Cardiff Blues up next. Top 6 is unlikely.

Aye, I don't arse with it either, some of those cats post all manner of mentalness.
That being said, I feel the Embra rugby forum exists because you do Greg. Cosmic balance. Hyperbolic optimism is the same as hyperbolic negativity.

From the Edinburgh forum:
I believe the UK law can consider verbal agreements as binding? I am sure Eugene could clear that up.Did anyone see Mark Palmer's article in the Sunday Times? Noticed on Twitter - the summary:
- According to a Toulon source, deal fell through not due to injury, but failure to agree compensation with SRU
- Gilcho was shown round Toulon's facilities, with the deal apparently in the bag
- SRU threatened legal action unless Toulon paid £240k to compensate for a 'verbal agreement' GG had made for a further year extension
- Toulon offered to pay a fee, and to send a full team to Murrayfield for a friendly
Interesting! Leaves you wondering about Gilcho's motivation for next season and/or naivety in thinking he could move. Of course it's speculation, but intriguing nonetheless....

Dunno. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rugby contracts were governed by English law - believe it or not you generally have a choice. Under English law most contracts can be concluded verbally. However I'd be surprised if he had done all that is necesary to be bound by the law of contractgiven that rugby contracts normall are the subject of written agreements.Chunks Baws wrote:Is it not just Scots law?Big D wrote:From the Edinburgh forum:I believe the UK law can consider verbal agreements as binding? No other option for Edinburgh. Basically need 3 wins from 3 as bonus points seem to be an anathema to them. If only we can get the backline moving. So much better with Burleigh at 12 than 10. Tovey's move may turn out very well for him if he stays. He will be hoping VC continues with Weir in the autumn. Could be alright for Edinburgh too.

23. Two more years takes him to 25 which is make it or break it age for a hooker I reckon but worth having him on the books to find out as surely we lose on of the other two in that time.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Who? Turner must be mid 20s now. Tick tock.Chunks Baws wrote:Strong team for Leinster.

Re: Solly's Soul Destroyers
I think if you can keep getting pro contracts then as a hooker you can still develop into a good pro well after 25. Squads will usually carry at least 3 specialist hookers so you don't have to be best in the club to still get some game time.

My mistake. I still think there are too many of these types rattling about the pro clubs although it used to be a lot worse. By these types I mean virtually untried, untested, unproven guys that are well into their 20s. They're not even journeymen.switchskier wrote:23. To put it into perspective Blair Kinghorn and Zander Fagerson probably have a boatload more club appearances than him.

Surprisingly close so far.
I'm watching Glaws v Exeter though. Grim... 0-0 after 35 mins.

You aren't missing much here. Embra hanging on with some decent defence, helped out by some fairly daft attack from Leinster. We are lucky to be in this, and lucky to have only one player in the bin.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Surprisingly close so far.

Hung on in there for grim life in the first half. But got to hang on the tall and stop giving away penalties otherwise the oppo will cruise to victory.

SHC pulled at half time. Fair enough given some of his passes.

We are getting drilled now... That Leinster try from our missed kick to touch at the other end was benny hill rugby at its very best.

Re: Solly's Soul Destroyers
Sitting in Leith watching the match, how the actual F do the Irish get all Irish Ref/touch judges and TMO, Hoyland had his head clean high tackled at pace with no arms and they are dismissing it between themselves as nothing but a penalty. Criminal.
