Just been on it for the first time in a couple of years. They're still a bunch of deluded twats.

Just as many people want to see Embra as they do Glasgow? Lol.

Haha... Love those guys.

Here, I don't want to rag on cats that aren't here to defend themselves, but am I reading it correctly that there is someone on there hinting that he thinks that Burleigh was let off from a gouge, so that "they" could get away with giving McFadden a more lenient ban?

Jesus...

You're too kind.

And yes, the idea that it was all conspiracy to allow a low ban for McFadden is.... Yeah. Straight jacket please.

Well, a story that has been knocking around the town since pretty much weeks after he joined Kirkcaldy, the Samoan fella is joining Edinburgh pending work permits etc.

Although, I am sure he could pass as a Kolpak player and circumnavigate the work permit issue.

It appears Te Rue and A Toolis are finished at Edinburgh according to rumours.

Would need a 10 to sign or resign Tovey and use Kinghorn at 10 more.

Tofilau? He was in the Scotsman yesterday saying he'd signed for Edinburgh.

That's the one. Not my club but those at Kirkcaldy say he looks a good 'un. But then again he should at that level.

Looked decent in the Melrose 7s.

Is Alex the good Toolis?

The Kirkcaldy coach is Samoan (settled in Kirkcaldy years ago) so I presume he used his connections to get him over.

Ben is the one that got capped last year and had progressed really well, stalled a little this year. Alex has come on well this year but is presented with being 4th choice at best behind GG, AB and AT. The Embra forum has a hard on for McKenzie, but I'd rather Alex Toolis stays tbh.

Ben Toolis is the 'good' one although Alex put in a very good shift this year and was part of the pack that performed so well while Gilchrist and B Toolis were out injured for long periods. Strange move unless he wants to leave.

This is maybe what's confused me. I thought it was Alex that was capped.

There was a lot of clamour (mostly from me) during the 6N to get Ben Toolis on the bench for the 6N & starting against Ireland. He would have offered some impact. I don't really understand how Glasgow's third/fourth choice lock is better than Edinburgh's first choice lock especially when you consider the Edinburgh pack is far stronger than the weeg one. Hopefully he will get some game time on the summer tours and get included in the squads going forward.

I'd say only Edinburgh's front row is far stronger

I've only just seen the tackle on Hoyland. It's amazing the way he springs up from it, if he hadn't done so I think that would have been a red card all day long.

(not that it shouldn't have been anyway)

Edinburgh front 5 don't pass, so they will always be 2nd choice behind the week players unless they offer far more in the tight than the opposite number.

With20 mins left of a game what's the point bringing on a 2nd row who will just take it into contact every time.

The one thing that Swinson does bring is work rate. He's got a great engine in him and hits lots of rucks. There's an argument that Gray jr is our most important player and it's important to have someone who can make up for some of his all action style if he goes down with injury.

At least that's my theory. Toolis should take that jersey next season if Gilchrist isn't fit but he's still got some developing to do, gets himself in the wrong position occasionally playing the slow game that Edinburgh play.

If we want to develop Toolis to play that sort of rugby he needs to be included in the Scotland squads. Edinburgh aren't suddenly to do a U-turn and stop playing their stodgy, brainless brand of rugby. So where else will he pick up those skills? I've never quite agreed with Vern's insistence on depleting Glasgow of every single player they have all the way down to 3rd and 4th choices ahead of Edinburgh 1st choices.

We don't have a player that comes remotely close to J Gray but perhaps you're right in saying that Swinson is closest in terms of 'style' but he's still several leagues below. J Gray is going to break the Scotland cap record, no problem.

i know what you mean but Cotter's job is to pick the best players to win for Scotland not to develop players who arent good enough currently to get into the team. Nor is it to worry about leaving Glasgow with players. Having said that I quite rate Toolis and wouldnt have minded him being in the squad

So Manu and Scott are back in training.

Back row selection will be interesting. Bradbury has been very effective off the bench.
