I'd say they've done plenty to warrant that. The problem is the chaos that ensue and what would emerge as a leadership or groups contesting power, we've seen in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya that you simply can't decide they should have a nice functioning democracy, and it's likely far better to negotiate with what's in place than seek military change.

I'd say they've done plenty to warrant that. The problem is the chaos that ensue and what would emerge as a leadership or groups contesting power, we've seen in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya that you simply can't decide they should have a nice functioning democracy, and it's likely far better to negotiate with what's in place than seek military change.

Apart from anything else, I think that a realistic assessment would come to the conclusion that an invasion of Iran by the US would be extremely difficult to carry off. In some peoples minds it might look like Iran and Iraq are similar equating to a similar result, but they are not. A combination of geography, a million man mobilisation potential, and a sophisticated domestic arms industry in Iran makes them a different proposition altogether.

Not that I am not suggesting that I would consider it justified in the first place, just that 2019 Iran is a completely different kettle of fish to 2003 Iraq.

As is tradition, President Trump hosted the champions of college football, the Clemson Tigers, for a celebration of their athletic achievement at the White House on Monday.

The food he offered them was far less traditional.

Piles of burgers and fish sandwiches from McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King, still in their boxes and wrappers, were served on trays in the candlelit dining room. Tubs of dipping sauces were stacked in silver gravy boats. On another table, heat lamps kept French fries and Domino’s pizzas warm. Salads were available, too.

Trump is well known to like fast-food (yes, really), and he probably thought this was the perfect way to bond with common folk.

It's been a while since I ate at McDonald's, I think I've had one sausage and egg mcmuffin this century, but aged 16 I'd have happily eaten two quarter pounders with fries and a milkshake, I probably could have put down 4 , but even as a hungry young adult 5 and above seems unlikely, maybe if stoned it'd be easier
