Some chat in the press today about an overhaul in the Weeg coaching and playing staff. Mike Blair off to Scotland full-time - makes sense given RWC; we knew Humphrey’s was off and a question mark over O’Halloran.

On the playing side strong hints from Rennie that some overseas players coming in. Hopefully some quality and some grunt for the pack. We’ve haven’t signed anyone bar squad fillers or youngsters for two years so with Russell and Hogg now away freeing up budget i’d like to see one or two decent additions.

Dalziel was rumoured to be their new forwards coach IIRC with Cairns heading off to the 7s.

Sounds interesting. Think Dunbar was on a fair wedge as well. If he can stay fit for Newcastle and help keep them up, it sounds like good business all round.

Very good performance last night. Was worried after the first score! Hogg and Hastings kicked well and kept the pressure on all night and the forwards fronted up

Looks like almost first choice teams for both sides tomorrow (injuries permitting). Cant wait. Huw Jones back on the bench too.

Apparently Jonny Gray made 41 tackles today and didn't miss any, whilst also carrying 14 times. How did those watching feel he played?

Now watched it.

Clearly 40+ tackles is incredible. But his carries were very effective, he hit rucks and the line out calling was generally excellent. Really stepped up last couple of weeks after getting benched. Good reaction.

Rennie's comments hit the nail on the head regarding Finn IMO.

One area in particular raised an eyebrow. Rennie believes Glasgow are better now than they were last season when they had Finn Russell at the helm. It's quite a claim, given the brilliance Russell is capable of. Russell is one of the world's top 10s, you say. "In your opinion," Rennie replies, intriguingly.

"I truly believe Adam has the ability to be better than Finn," says Rennie of 22-year-old Hastings. "Look, Finn's a really talented player but his ability to read play and build pressure still has a wee way to go, as has his work off the ball. You see a little inconsistency around Finn's game and Adam is probably the same but he's a young man who's probably going to get a lot better.

"He's had an excellent season. We were able to build more pressure with Adam in the 10 seat because he doesn't feel the need to do something fancy after four phases because we're not going anywhere. Adam is on track to develop into a really good 10 who will put pressure on Finn."

Morrison was guffing about how bad it`s going to be for Hastings, etc. in the Hootsman a few days ago.

So new contracts for Jones, Jackson, Nairn and Hughes, plus a bunch of confirmed leavers. The former three make sense but I've just never seen it with Hughes. Also looking very thin at full-back next season with Hogg off. Possibly also a bit thin at hooker given Brown and Turner's injury record.

You'd assume there is an experienced hooker & full back coming in to complete recruitment. Even a young guy that can be developed into a long term 15 but doing nothing and working with the current crop is dangerous unless they plan to convert McDowall

Was watching on the worst stream in existence so couldn’t really tell what was going on. Who was the Gordon chap at 7? Not heard of him before.

Seemed to put in some crucial hits around the ruck when close to the Glasgow line. For all I could tell he was absolutely useless the rest of the time though.

Got MoM on premiersports. Former academy guy with NZ then Scotland u20 background. Barely played before today but looked good. Great all round performance from Glasgow

Bhatti, Harley and Steyn to start are all big calls. Weird that Jones is first choice internationally but can't really crack the first 15 for Glasgow.

I’ve been thinking he’s just been injured a lot and taken a while to get up to speed, but it’s been a while now. The fact he can’t get in the side for a knockout game is strange, as you say.

I wonder how much Rennie is willing to compromise with the starting XV to get a decent bench?
