No, they're talking toot. Any loss sees you back down to #2, although a draw is good enough to keep you top. A >15 loss would see you drop below Ireland into 3rd.

So is their calculator no longer accurate then?

Seems to be working okay to me. Home team of 86.27, away team of 89.96 and a home win by 1-15 sees you drop to 88.89, which is less than the 89.04 now held by New Zealand. I think you must have a number wrong somewhere.

I use this one, which is nice and automated and makes me seem smarter than I am: https://rawling.github.io/wr-calc/

I had the numbers correct but I was reading them from the world rankings page on wiki, someone had switched NZ and Wales but not recalculated NZ's new numbers so was reading Wales's ranking points as 91.xx. Its been fixed now so all is good.

Just done the numbers for a thread on the General board and spotted that, regardless of what NZ do to Australia, the gap is now so close that you will go to #1 with any victory over England. However, lose to us by 15+ and we go top. Bit of stakes for a warm-up!

Yeah, this doesn't surprise me (although I haven't had time to put the numbers into a spreadsheet to check).

Presumably England, Ireland, Wales or NZ could end up at No.1 by the end of these "friendlies" depending how the results go.

Heck, it's possible for any of those four to be top by the end of this weekend, dependant on results!

With warm-ups like these, who needs a world cup??

If England win by 16 this weekend, I might be in a position where I'm agreeing with this ;)

They should shut down the ranking algorithm now that it's finally delivered the correct answer. :)
