Props seem to cost a lot too compared to the points that they bring in. Or maybe I just know nothing about front row play (far more likely).

It's not just that, but a few players who were nailed on starters or benchers last season are fighting for their spot with others. Mainly at Bath (with their hoovering up of young props) but also elsewhere.

The guaranteed wins are super expensive, the mediocre ones are expensive, and the others...if you want to cover yourself, you'll need 5-6 of them. Which takes a lot of budget.

Couple that with hooker problems - there's only 1 player (I'll let you guess who, 2/3rd of players have signed him) who's kind of secure. The rest...you don't know who will be starting unless they're stupid expensive.

The rest is kind of OK. You can see the variance between price and points.

But probably because all the best props are at the WC, it's the toughest choice for me.

Prop is a tough one because of cost/points scoring potential, but of the top 10 highest scoring props from last season only 3 are at the RWC (Cole, Marler, Sinckler in order of score).

Mako and Genge almost certainly would have been in there had they not spent so much time out injured but my overall feeling with the props is that slow and steady wins the race. A prop that scores you 15pts p/wk and plays week-in, week-out is a decent asset. For example, Alex Waller scored over 300 points by virtue of lots of average performances. More than Sinckler who on paper is a far more attractive pick and didn’t actually miss that much Premiership rugby.

There are still some gems you can get on the cheap and I actually quite like the fact that you really have to weigh-up cost/benefit on signings.

It's partly due to penalties conceded. But it's insane that the highest scoring prop was...Dan Cole.

The Sale props also score highly.

Correct - the problem with the Sale props this year is the slight uncertainty over who is going to play with Oosthuizen and JCW creating a lot more competition for places.

Personally I found that a bit trickier than I expected. I had a 23 planned out based upon who I expected to start and had to juggle it a bit more than I anticipated.

I’ve made a couple of gambles I’m slightly nervous about so might switch them later.

Same here. Have only got three props so will have to sign some next week.

Feels like prices have gone up a bit this season for your good but not international quality players. Harder to spot the value youngsters.

TBH, I quite often stick with 3 props as they don’t generally score that well relative to what they cost. I’ve gone for 4 for now, mostly because I’m less confident re. rotation at this stage of the season.

I have to confess that I found it significantly easier than last year. I was struggling to get a team together and even my low-ranked potential bolters cost a load of money. This year there's a lot of good talent under £200k, especially in the backs.

I just hope prices move a bit more fluidly this season - I want some of my cheaper acquisitions to rise in price before the world and its wife decides to buy in.

I have a few (including my captain) yet to play, but my scores were pretty modest today. I probably put too much faith in Saracens and Sale winning at home.
