Maori All Blacks in the Pro14

Post by Lizard »

I'm trying to identify a recently retired player who has not won a test cap for any nation but has played for the Maori All Blacks, and as well as Super Rugby has played for clubs in both the Pro14 and the English Premiership.

The nearest I can get is Sean Maitland.

Any ideas?

He was capped by NZ, didn’t play for the Māori, and didn’t play in the English premiership.

No other clues, unfortunately.

James Arlidge, although I believe he has Japanese caps.

I thought of him yesterday - he is indeed a fully fledged Japanese international.

Bugger of a question. Marty Holah is almost perfect but I don’t think he played in England.

He also would have predated Pro14

It turns out the answer is Joe Maddock (who also technically predates Pro14). Credit to Tigersman on the EMB.
