I couldn't help but notice that, once again, Liz Truss was making explicit threats against the Nord-Stream 2 pipe line.
I hate to be banging the same drum repeatedly but Opec and the US seem determined that whatever happens, Gazprom are not going to be allowed to flood Europe with cheap LNG which will break their cartel.
Like all cartels, they will say and do anything to protect their monopoly.

I think they will be praying he goes no further. Putin seemed very odd in his broadcast, must be feeling some pressure. If Putin stays where he is then nothing has substantially changed although he ends up with a couple of new Abkhazias to send diplomats to.

Hopefully the Ukrainian military has been told to keep their heads down and ignore any provocations.
