Not quite. About 20pts short but still scored pretty well and Stayed in 3rd. Lost some ground on 1st and 2nd, so third might be as good as it gets now.

I thought Coles might be a clever choice but he got me a lowly 2pts. Even more annoying when I had Lawes in my squad but left him out.

Rugby Rebels Premiership final is:

Scrum Of The Earth vs. Royal Oak Wanderers

I got 580, by far and away my best score and propelled me back into the top 10 of our league. Shame I had such a miserable run from April though.

Final result:

Scrum Of The Earth - 368pts
Royal Oak Wanderers - 348pts

I’m happy with back to back titles. I genuinely expected to lose yesterday after winning the regular season by a massive margin.

Thanks for playing folks. See you again next season!

I came tenth on that final game week! I think that might be my best relative week ever.

Congratulations to scrumhead. Deserved and dominant winner. When your league winner is third overall you have to accept that it's time to up your game for next season.

Now if you'd just care to share your initial 28 man squad...

I already have a cunning plan for next season. It’s the same cunning plan I used for the last 8 seasons. Nobody will be expecting that. I fully intend to stay lower mid table because it’s all about the long game.

I'd actually love it if there was a dynasty version of this game, or one based on drafts like NFL fantasy. But this is still the best rugby version available.

Oh no! Any clue as to why?

ETA. Statement here: https://therugbymagazine.com/gallagher- ... -our-boots

Seems fair enough - can't blame him in the slightest. Crying shame though - it was functionally perfect and seems appalling that no-one was willing to partner with him.

I can't link the tweet from them but its basically losing too much money and is too much work for one person/a small team.

What a shame, I loved playing this with you all.

Is there an alternative?

I’ve never investigated anything else as it was so good. I don’t think there is a like for like that I am aware of.

That’s the crazy thing. There isn’t an alternative.

Prem Rugby just never showed any meaningful interest despite years of Ed trying to get their attention.

Not exactly. It was never a major money-spinner. I think the simple fact is that it ended up becoming more hassle than it was worth for Ed. I did everything I could to support him on the admin side, but I think he just got tired of banging his head against a brick wall.

I am actually planning on writing an open letter to Prem Rugby on this so if anyone wants to add their comments, I’ll share it here.

Excellent shout. It seems madness that Premiership Rugby aren't interested in something that proven to increase fan retention and engagement and which is already set up and pretty much ready-to-go.

Exactly. I don’t understand why they can’t simply license the game engine. Such an easy win.

I keep thinking about players and thinking, "Ooh, I should look him up for my new squad; I reckon he could be a bargain," then remembering that there won't be a new squad this year.

At the end of last season I selected my squad in to my excel spreadsheet. I’m keeping it for nostalgia purposes.
