Generally provide good shelter too and support humungous numbers of creepy, crawly and furry friends.
Just might catch on - lots of trees in the equatorial regions provide additional buffering with their microclimates they create...
maybe there's hope. :|

A lot of extreme weather these days. Imagine if fossil fuel companies hadn't sabotaged science in the 60's and 70's....

Stop buying crap from China and Amazon. That'll solve a lot of the world's problems. Pointless tech crap, terrible clothes, and other useless crap from China.

The amount of aviation fuel burned transporting utterly pointless crap from China to the UK and US is insane.

Approaching 4.5 M (reported) deaths from the Armageddon-killer-virus in a year and a half...
That's about 3 weeks population growth at the current rate; think of all those throw-away clothes and assorted crap that will be needed. The Mars project needs to move on apace.

It's a waste, no doubt, but surely most of the crap from China is shipped, not flown.

A sane system would include carbon costs of transport in the pricing of goods, but that's hardly likely from a government that's put up trade barriers with all our nearest neighbours.

That was my suggestion, a tax on goods depending on how far it had to travel.

Countries should be doing more to support local businesses as is, as those local businesses are what forms the basis of our economies. It's why Hungary are screwed, for instance, because most of those companies are owned by friends of the Victator.

Yep. Ideally, I think the cost of carbon emissions should be part of the transport costs so they wouldn't need to be explicitly added to the price of goods, but that would need a global system.

So the latest IPCC report is a pretty blunt assessment of where we are at: reduce emissions by 2025 or else. However, there is no direct criticism of the fossil fuel industry that has aggressively discredited the science behind this manifest situation predicted by models generated by their own scientists over 30 years ago. They knew this was coming and could have prevented it. What complete and utter cunts.
