RIP David Duckham
Like a knife through butter, with some step too.
Coventry had a number of Eng internationals in their backline then, but he was the star.
(must have been good to hold a Lions shirt ahead of a Welshman of that era!)RIP

Re: RIP David Duckham
what a great player, childhood hero, criminally under utilised by the shambles that was the England team -mostly- of that time.....despite a lot of top players. RIP and thanks.

The first English rugby player that registered with me. One of our best.

It's a real pity there isn't more footage of him in full flight. That Edwards try means we seldom see the really good bits if the famous baabaas game, which is duckham stepping merrily.

The DT article commented that he even wrong-footed the television cameraman. He and Phil Bennett were the great side-steppers. Both bamboozled defenders but Duckham could do it at full pace. Wonderful to watch.

Yeah, threw an outrageous dummy combined with a huge step and the camera bought the dummy. Here ye go

England's best ever wings - Duckham and R. Underwood ? (P.Jackson was pretty good in his day.)

A true genius amid England's 1970s mediocrity. Remember watching that NZ-BaaBaas game live, he was the star of the show.
