If they're anything like the Labour party, they'd rather lose than win with a left winger. They'll pull out all the stops to block Ocasio-Cortez too.

Especially one that's pro-Palestine. Incredible how quickly the political Overton window has shifted to the extent that wanting a two-state solution gets you pariah status - that was the moderate, centrist position not very long ago! Wild also that it seems to have been driven by the shift in Israeli politics (where the opinion of conquering everything has become so mainstream that it's a vital part of the government coalition), rather than by domestic movements in the UK/USA.

There are plenty who are just starry-eyed about Israel, like they're real-life heroes of the Bible. And then there's the Christians who want the end of the world. They just do what Israel says and forgive it every time it slaps them in the face.

Heh, yeah true. It's still wild how quickly that's changed in US and UK politics to "Why do you hate all Jews???" if you don't support Israel annexing anything and everything.
