I remember reading about one of Haglers trainers explaining why Hagler couldn't get fights at the time before his title bouts .

He told him " Unfortunately you have three strikes against you , you're good , you're a southpaw & you're black ."

Re Hagler v Hearns: I remember that one. Hagler destroyed him. Yet Hagler struggled with Duran while Hearns (about a foot taller) made light work of the Panamanian. That's what I meant by the 'rock-scissors-paper' effect. Personally I admired Hagler the most. Sugar Ray was just too much of a show off at times. But when you look back at the records of all those fighters, particular against one another, there's no doubt who was the brightest star.
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

Almost over in the first round as GGG just stalked Brook and had him in all sorts of trouble on the ropes.

Brook came back well to be fair and ended the round with a couple of sweet shots.

This isn't going far.

And that's it.

The towel is thrown in as Brook was taking a flurry of shots. Probably could've gone on a little longer but Brook was beat there.

The lad did well though but ultimately, GGG showed his class.

Classy guy, GGG.

Full of respect for Brook but says he's no middleweight.

He's interested in Billy Joe though....

Looking at some of the replays, GGG wasn't hurt at all. Brook landed a few punches but it didn't rock the head or feet.

Brook had a go but he wasn't causing any problem as such. GGG looked impatient and perhaps annoyed at times, but there was no doubt on the result.

GGG's stalking style means he is always going to take some punches . He does have a brilliant chin and with his clubbing punches and walk in attitude he must be every boxers nightmare opponent . Pretty sure he'll go on as an all time great and to Brooks favour he didn't need to take this monster on .

Have to watch highlights as was out last night !!

Mostly agree but a couple of punches definitely rocked the head back of GGG. Not saying he was hurt by them but there was one uppercut in particular that snapped the head back IIRC.

GGG was and is class. Too small to move up to SMW though and Ward would probably beat him if that ever happened (it wont and Ward is now LHW).

Bearing in mind some of the questions about Brook before I think this fight showed a couple of things. His chin actually held up well, a couple of shots he took would have knocked down others and although I think his will was broken he showed a lot of heart, fighting 4 rounds with a broken eye socket on the side where GGG throws a mean left hand. And I think he showed enough to suggest Khan has nothing for him except speed, although most of his punches didn't hurt GGG they would have floored Khan.

Any way onto the real British hope on the card, the Callum Smith bandwagon rolls on! Did what he had to do.

And Khan and Eubank Jnr can fuck off. Despite the hyperbole around Saturdays fight it was still a WW fighting one of the best P4P boxers in the world 2 weights above his.

Eubank Jnr saying his corner doesn't own a towel to throw in. You hand the chance to have that fight and you bottled it. His Dad is getting the blame but he could have put his foot down and stepped up.

And Khan saying about how Brook should have went out on his shield. Your chin doesn't give your corner a chance to pull you out.

Just pure tubthumping with both boxers looking for the next big payday . Khans comments are rather ironic but time is running out for him opponent wise . Eubank Jr will always sell tickets but I do wonder how many ' fans ' want to see him lose . Brook is no shrinking violet in the arrogance game but he did step in with GGG and its well documented that many top 10 fighters have ducked him .

Cracking fight, thoroughly entertaining.

Triple G just too good as we all knew, my favourite moment was when Brook hit him with a good shot and Triple G just nodded at him in recognition and then waved him forward.

Callum Smith looked more measured, he'll neeed to work a bit harder than that against better opponents tho.

Haskins shows he isn't really world level with a laboured win over Stuart Hall.

Paul Smith looked quite porky, I'm assuming he took the fight at late notice.

It is tough for him. Since sorting out Fielding quickly he has really been in a holding pattern as the no.1 contender for Jack. He either waits and waits and takes tune up fights or starts to look at dangerous fights like Dirrellx2 or Groves.

He really needs a title fight by Spring '17.

I think he would beat either of those if they fought next week, Jack is a big step up for him so an interim against one of those two would give us a better idea of his true potential, by god he's big for a SMW.

Peach of a body shot by Canelo who then calls out GGG. Lets see if he follows through with it.

It's got the Mayweather Pacquiao farce all over it this one, I can't see Mayweather risking him against GGG.

Missed the fight unfortunately.

Crolla v Linares on Saturday night SS2

Conor Benn is fighting again on the undercard.

I fancy Crolla to win but Linares is no mug.
