Good move for all parties at the end of the day. It's a loan deal and if the weeg have an injury crisis they can always recall him.

I wonder if the weeg were interested? Lamont likely to retire and with so many centres out of contract DTH offers good cover. Suspect he's cheaper than Lamont as well.

By all accounts the Scarlets fans aren't too upset about this. Does seem to have been quiet for them.

Taking skillset aside. I would not be so sure he'd be cheaper than Lamont, going by the text in the article it seems money is his motivating factor (no problem with that) so I doubt he'd have come cheaply. Lamont's last contract (signed last year?) would not have been that of a top line starter.

The Grant situation seems to not be as clear cut as we thought....

Brive press release:
News

PRESS RELEASE

January 3, 2017
New signatures of Sila Puafisi and Florian Cazenave and arrival of Ryan Grant

CA Brive is pleased to announce today the signings of the pillar Sila Puafisi and the half-scrimmage Florian Cazenave for next season.

Sila Puafisi, 28, has played in Gloucester and currently plays for the Glasgow Warriors. He has 24 selections with the team from Tonga and has participated in the last two victorious matches of the tour of November against the United States and Italy.

Florian Cazenave, 27, a USAP player from 2008 to 2014, currently plays in Italy in Reggio after an interruption of his career due to an accident. He will join the ranks of CA Brive next season for his return to the French championship.

The club is also pleased with the imminent arrival of Ryan Grant from Glasgow; He will be the medical joker of Lucas Pointud. He left Scotland for the first time, where he played 20 times for the national team and in 3 Scottish clubs: Border Reivers, Edinburgh Rugby and - the latest - the Glasgow Warriors.

Nicolas Godignon supports his choices:

" Sila Puafisi is a powerful and very tonic player. His experience at the international level will be a real plus for the team. We are very pleased that he will join us next season.

We are very pleased that Florian Cazenave will join us next season. He is an excellent player and thanks to the modification of the regulation we were able to sign it quickly.

As far as Ryan Grant is concerned, we were very pleased with the tests last week at the club and its availability is an opportunity we have seized. "
Blair quote:
"When asked about Brive's announcement, Glasgow coach Mike Blair said: "Ryan has said that is not the situation at the moment. He is training with us, he trained with us today, training well, and we will wait and be told by the big dogs upstairs what is going on."

Not strictly Glasgow-related again, but rumour on SSN this morning is that Martin Johnson could be Leicester coach by the time of the ERC decider.

I'm keen to read the full report on that. Doesn't appear to be any head contact. Also hard to forget hibbard? Diving shoulder first on the back of Hoggs exposed neck a while back with zero sanction.

Another day another rumour of a Scottish player being bought out his contract:
Glasgow Warriors and Scotland fly-half Finn Russell is at the centre of a bidding war, with French clubs Toulon and Montpellier and English sides Bath and Gloucester prepared to spend £250,000 to buy out the final year of his contract, which ends in May 2018. (Daily Mail)

Not that I see him leaving but a couple of interesting landing spots there. He'd have to be fucking mental to go to Gloucs.

Id prefer he goes to an English club, they don't tend to beast them as much as the French league which seems to finish 1 week before the pre season games start

Load of nonsense. Bath should give Glasgow Hastings as well as the compo if any truth.

Hmm, Bath have Ford and Priestland, Glous have just signed Williams so neither seem likely to me. Can't see Toloun moving on from Trim Duh just yet but Montpellier might be a destination if they only played a different style of rugby.

I can't see him going but Ford has activated his clause in his contract to allow him to move if he wants so it isn't definite he'll be there next year and Russell is better than Priestland. Cotter going to Montpellier might see them change the way they play.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is all agent talk looking for a better deal.

Williams is mental for going to Gloucs unless they do get the new owner and he pumps money in.

Reading twitter, Rob Robertson appears to be the journo on this one. He isn't usually one for agent propaganda so maybe there is interest on the buying side. Doesn't mean there is on the selling side though.
