Former Women Eagles 7s head coach Ric Suggitt has passed away. He was 58 years old. His sudden passing was due to a medical complication. Suggitt leaves a strong legacy in the American and Canadian rugby communities. He led the Women Eagles 7s to Olympic qualification and is credited for bringing in a number of players that are fixtures on the team today. He was one of the main drivers of bringing in crossover athletes like Alev Kelter into rugby.
Suggitt previously coached the Canadian women's team, the men's 7s team, and the 15s team where he led them at the 2007 World Cup. Sluggo, as he was often called, was head coach at the University of Lethbridge at the time of his passing.
Anyone who knew Ric knew of his extremely warm and fun personality. Whether you were with him 50 second or 50 minutes he always made you feel as if you knew him for a long time. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those impacted by his passing.

RIP Ric Suggitt
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?
