Not even close.
Several tours now regarded as official Lions tours were Anglo-Welsh or Anglo-Scots squads.

Here is something for you to pull yourself off to Greg.
Fair warning it's a Wales Online opinion article... and it's a fucking beaut.

I got about 5 sentences in before I was too furious to read more.
It's like listening to my mum talking about politics.
But here's why Gatland's evil. I'm not a diehard Lions fan exactly, but the lads are having a Lions breakfast at the pub tomorrow and I thought, nah, not really interested.... What the feck is wrong with me?! Breakfast at the pub ffs!

I get why people are disinterested, it's not as if I'm not pissed off but the reactions of some make them look like 12 year old girls. It is also generally the people that were greeting that they didn't want any jocks in the team due to fatigue and potential injury and then throw a hissy fit that nobody was selected. It makes us look like the stereotypical blokes with the full fish supper on our shoulders.
Speaking as a fud - and a complete one at that - I missed the first test as I was golfing. Second test I saw most of on a stag do and wasn't really paying attention until the last ten when I wanted the Lions to lose marginally less than I wanted NZ to lose. Golfing tomorrow.
It's not about the rugby world revolving around Scottish rugby. Only an utter prick would assume people that are pissed off with repeated Lions snubs would think that.
The utterly dire Scottish teams of the 60s&70s, the abject Welsh team of the 80s or the Irish in the mid 90s, had far better representation in Lions squads than Scotland have had over the past 20 years.
I'm tired of hearing Scots fans excusing Lions management selections tour after tour as being "management style". There comes a point where you have to accept that Scots players are simply not viewed as being Lions material. Doesn't matter if its style, size or skill that's the deciding factor, doesn't matter if its a conscious, or more likely an unconscious bias, it's still a bias.
It stopped being funny some time ago.
I can think of half a dozen Scots players at least as deserving of a squad slot this time out as any other nations players, tho I think Launchbury was hardest done by of any 6N player. (Watson & Dunbar not far behind).
Doesn't matter either if you admit it or not, the facts of the last 20 years speak for themselves. When there's a close choice, the coach picks the non Scot. Unless we're so bad we've been gifted a player or two each tour to ensure it's still nominally the British and Irish Lions and the SRU gets its share of the loot.
If you think that, what sort of Scottish rugby fan are you at all? Hanging on to the coat tails of your betters?
As John Beattie diplomatically said today. The Lions are like a party the Scots don't get invited to.
As HP pointed out, fuds are going to fud and it's going to collateral everyone in the middle.
It's hard to disagree with any of that Al, but I'm not going to support NZ because of it, not because I like hanging off the coat tails of my betters, but because I'm not 12.
