Tattoos, blonde dreadlocks and man-buns as fashion accessories. I've actually seen guys with all 3

Incidentally I've got nothing against tats and have one myself, but white folks with Polynesian designs all over their arms = cringe-worthy :?

Honorary mention to the current bushy beard craze among young North Americans.

The urban pansy beard phenomenon is not restricted to the yanks chief. It's a plague the world over.
Really? Just going on personal observation, and I don't watch Western TV or films usually. But I live in the middle of a big expat scene (apparently numbering in the tens of thousands in my neck of the woods), and it seems to be mostly a North American thing - and most often involving skinny guys in their early twenties  . Though come to think of it, quite a few of the Super Rugby players do seem to be running around with hairy faces these days...

Almost forgot - hoodies as a fashion statement. I wear one myself when its the middle of winter, but not because I want to look like a gangsta rapper in the spring . . . :?

It isn't? I thought English people pronouncing it 'day-vees' was actually a particular bugbear of the Welsh? Maybe I'm backwards on that.
You are correct. It is pronounced Davis, not Davies. So Jonathan Davies is pronounced Davis.

Clothes are now designed either for men with beer guts or skinny legged hipster twats. I have to choose between a baggy work shirt or one that fits the waist but not my shoulder and arms. Same goes for "fitted" drain pipe legs.

Medical bulletins stating that a patient is "critical but stable".
Which is it ffs, critical or stable?

Where did the 'forward pack' come from ?
i'm sure they used to be known simply either as 'the pack or 'the forwards'...can't ever recall the jessicas doing anything en masse to warrant the pack tag.

Surely that says more about yourself than the bulletin.
Critical =/= unstable.

Do you get annoyed by weather forecasts talking about "dry, but cloudy"?

Critical and stable are antonyms, dry and cloudy are not.

They're really not.

Critical means "high chance of death", whilst Stable means "is responding as predicted"

Then the medical profession abuse the language. Criticality and stability are mutually exclusive.

What dictionary are you using to get that? it's perfectly possible to be unstable but not at the point of crisis; equally it's perfectly possible to be stable and at the point of crisis. Let's face it, many, many things are supposed to be unstable.

Out of interest; OED definitions:
Critical wrote:(of a situation or problem) having the potential to become disastrous; at a point of crisis.
Stable wrote:(of a patient or their medical condition) not deteriorating in health after an injury or operation.

Shirley someone can be in a critical condition, that is that their injuries or illness have the potential to threaten their life, but be in a state that is not currently deteriorating; that is to say, 'stable'.

If its all about stability being equal to not getting worse, then the condition of someone who is dead could be described as stable.

In its non-medical uses, critical is used to denote something on the point of change, whereas stable means that it is unlikely to change. If that were mapped on to medicine it would translate that someone is close to dying (critical), but not in danger of dying (stable).

Whether it's accepted usage or not, it grates.

The key phrase is "at a point of crisis", ie a point where the state change can occur. To use the word "stable" in this context just means that they are not dead yet.

I'm pretty sure that medical profession only use this phraseology to put a positive spin on it. Adding the word "stable" makes a bad situation sound so much better.

Mrs WG listens to that ginger twat Evans on a morning. It grates bad enough when the lanky streak pulls a sickie and that Bolton gob-shyte takes over, but I near vomited with hatred when I heard the flabby-titted-wife-shagging wank-stain yapping on this morning!!!!
