I'd have taken Bryce over Tonks. If we are scraping the barrel at least Bryce is quickish.

I'd take a lump of wood over Tonks. He's gash.

Interesting... maybe he's playing really well but last LI team sheet I saw he was on the bench.

I figured he came to Edinburgh to be Scottish for a bit but got found out as pretty average and went back to England. Didn't expect to see his name again.

I like the concept of Hughes but not seen much in the way of end performance.

Tighthead. Toony already showing he's a better selector than Vern. Rae has been superb this season and Berghan is well below pro 12 level. Surprised that Nel is back so soon - I expected Welsh here instead.

Lock - on form that's what you would expect and realistically Cummings is 5th choice behind this bunch but it still would have been a good opportunity for him. Gilchrist is not in the picture at all which means he has no choice but to hit form and earn his spot back - great news.

Back row - surprised to see both Strauss and Bradbury there.

Fly half - delighted to see Weir dropped. He is not good enough and is far too limited.

Back 3 - Jackson appears to be preferred over Kinghorn. Not sure on the reasoning - Kinghorn needing a rest or just not ready? Either way you'd have to think Jackson is seriously considering his club options if Toony has told him he is in his plans for Scotland. On reflection, he's pretty lucky to be there.
... nailed it.

Fair shout to call me out on that EinE. I don't think anyone is really in doubt that Kinghorn is the next cab of the rank. I am guessing that Toony/the SRU feel the same way but have agreed that Kinghorn will be playing age group rugby this summer regardless of injuries, call ups, etc. It's the only explanation I can think of.

Still doesn't explain why Tonks over Bryce - unless he has 7s commitments?

Now that I've had a chance to think about it. Given Hogg & Kinghorn are unavailable. The only other SQ 15 playing top fight rugby is Alex Tait at Newcastle.

We could do a lot worse. He is a very, very solid player.

If still have taken Bryce seeing as we are down to bare bones.. I'd always take the average player with attacking threat over the average player with no real threat.

Ha, it wasn't a fair shout, it was a cheap shot at your need to see everything as the best thing, or worst thing ever.

I've got to admit, I genuinely laughed out loud at the prospect of your reaction when I heard that call up.

Despite the screw up at 15 the inclusion of Turner is one of the clever moves by Toony. Depth at 2 is a real problem for us - we need to know whether Turner has 'it' or not.

Very honest article and I feel for him as it must get depressing. Hope it's not seen as too whiny

Fiji Rugby has finally published a kick-off time for the 17 June Test: 2.30pm (or 3.30am in the UK)

Tickets will be FJ$20 -$50 (£7.30 - £18.30). I can't find any online sales, but that is not a great surprise.

Gray IIRC has hardly played since the 6N. It's a shame as he was pretty good in the 6N too.

Kennedy called up? Jesus.

Good that SHC should be ok for pre season though.
