Rumour on Edinburgh forum that Sam Johnson is headed east. No idea source etc. so take with a pinch of salt.
Glasgow have a centre or two not under contract next season. He's not one of them.Big D wrote:Rumour on Edinburgh forum that Sam Johnson is headed east. No idea source etc. so take with a pinch of salt.
Wouldn't be the 1st (or probably last) time a player in contract changed SRU clubs. That being said, as stated I was just repeating what appears to be an unfounded rumour.hp18 wrote:Glasgow have a centre or two not under contract next season. Not scenarios you can really compare. Johnson has just broken through and is making his mark at Glasgow.Big D wrote:Wouldn't be the 1st (or probably last) time a player in contract changed SRU clubs. Is he even qualified? I don't think we (the scottish clubs) should be buying non qualified at that level of quality. If they are NSQ and actually improve the team & the squad then fair enough but I don't see how that signing falls in that category?Big D wrote:Rory Scholes is confirmed.
To be honest Petrie has some work to do. His other signing would have been practically handed to him by the SRU. He is in the paper claiming Edinburgh are a buying club....
Have to agree with this. At that age they're still requiring development (and potentially) stifling a jocks development.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Is he even qualified? I completely agree.OptimisticJock wrote:Have to agree with this. I've never understood the need to get worked up about something that hasn't happened yet.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Solomons is honestly one of the worst recruiters & selectors I have come across in Scottish rugby.
It's a completely different matter if they signed Trimble or Bowe for example who would improve that team significantly.
I really wish Edinburgh would take a leaf out of Glasgow's book, I want to see both clubs run well.
That's what 18/23 SQ? 5 of that pack are 24 or younger and 6 of the backline 25 or younger. With most, I think signed up for next season.OptimisticJock wrote:Clearly Berghan doesn't tickle the baws when dishing oot the gobbles.
That's a decent back line though.
Genuinely pleased you pointed that out. The narrative in my head says we are rammers with NSQ, and always will be.Big D wrote:That's what 18/23 SQ? 5 of that pack are 24 or younger and 6 of the backline 25 or younger. Still a couple of issues with the side though.
I count 18 plus CdP. But at least if we're going to miss out on top 6 it's young SQ players that are getting game time*.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Genuinely pleased you pointed that out. I'm with you on that Baz, really wish we would start Berghan.
Ha... Nice bolt on caveat. I might add that to my signature thingee on this forum.Big D wrote:I count 18 plus CdP. *In no way is this to be taken as supportive to AS selection policies which as we know are questionable.
Think there are some loose definitions of come through the system and of the 3 that are "the majority of the way through SQ 'project' qualification" Burleigh and Bressler wouldn't be my near a Scotland shirt for me so I count them as non project players.Stolen from Edinburgh forum wrote: Of Edinburgh's starting 15 tonight:
10 have come through the Academy system and/or Edinburgh is their only pro club
8 have come through the ER system in the last two years
11 are SQ, a further 3 are the majority of the way through SQ 'project' qualification, 1 is NSQ
9 are Scots-born (I think)
8 grew up in the club's catchment area
Not bad, considering we have a further 5 players unavailable due to Scottish international duty, and several SQ players injured...
Based on this season, you're better off with Scholes. Whether he can maintain his form, I don't know, but then he's got room to improve as well and should do so with regular game time.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Solomons is honestly one of the worst recruiters & selectors I have come across in Scottish rugby.
