A comment from who? Some analysis of how they’ve been playing or someone directly in the know?
Lawes’s only rest has been through injury hasn’t it? If Jones finds that several of his Lions players are absolutely shagged for the next few England campaigns I don’t think he has anyone else to blame.

Yep. 90 seconds at flanker to assess whether he’s got the versatility for test rugby or some bullshit.
Where is Isiekwe in the England pecking order? He must be incredibly confused.

Too big a hit to the ego to bring Marchant back in after the criticism/questioning over dropping him. Suddenly this tour is about unearthing new, young talents again.
Read some quotes from Lawes talking about results being nice, but really we're rebuilding and trying new things. I would have loved to hear that in 2020 but I don't get why we're in this position a year out from the world cup. Really just down to RWC seedings?

The comment was actually in a reader's letter referring to Danield Schofield's comment to that effect on 4 July. No idea what background information led to his opinion.

For me that does suggest that Marchant has a niggle.

Really? If it was I’m sure it would have been reported already

Really glad he's getting a chance, he's a classy operator.
