Just as fucking well I've got a drink
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Our discipline continues to be absolutely disgraceful.

2nd half has been about the worst 40 minutes of rugby I can remember from Scotland

What an embarrassment of a second half.
Townsend either refuses to (very unlikely) or can't reign in the significant discipline problem. He has to clamp down on it. If it means sacking Tandy and getting a new defensive system in place or dropping players then so be it. Enough is enough

He did in the 1st half. That kick was the wrong choice in the second.

Costly match with Gray and Crosbie picking up serious looking injuries too.

In typical Scottish fashion we implode. Almost feels like a defeat.

Re: 2024 Six Nations
It was a win, but WTF was that 2nd half? Discipline went completely to shit and we were so close to making an embarrassing cnut of it. It’s a shame DVDM didn’t get that try at the end to get a BP but it would have put an undeserved gloss on the 2nd half display. We definitely have a problem at the breakdown but don’t know what we do about it. Is it time to try some new names? Maybe give Christie a run-out in the back row? We definitely need to give Matthews a shot at hooker, probably on the bench. Ashman just isn’t good enough with his throws. On the plus side, Rowe played well at full back, he can definitely continue to be considered for that shirt, even after Kinghorn is fit again.

Rowe is definitely in the convo in the back 3.BaldiePete wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 7:14 pm It was a win, but WTF was that 2nd half? Ashmans missed throw was an example the forwards going to pot. New hooker on and we call a lineout with lots of moving parts when we are under serious pressure. Then poor execution from the hooker..

I missed what happened with Ritchie for us to end up with Sione on the flank. Did he go off injured? Lineout went to shit when Gray went off. Did we win any turnovers? I don't recall any. I agree that Matthews should be on the bench. Perhaps the second half debacle is a reality check going into next week against a fired up France.

Crosbie looks to have popped his AC joint or dislocated his shoulder or something like that.Jocky wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 7:42 pm I missed what happened with Ritchie for us to end up with Sione on the flank. I don't think any of the forwards could complain if there were wholesale changes (not that there will be and not should there really). Three players (Skinner, Fagerson and Turner) combined for 9 penalties (as per ESPN at time of post).
Ritchie had zero turnovers and Fagerson wasn't really involved in attack with ball in hand.

Re: 2024 Six Nations
Welsh no. 7 gave our much vaunted flankers a lesson in why that position exists.
Rowe at 15 was actually pretty good, but we're still not good enough under the high ball.

Christie or Darge have to come in at 7.

You just know that in Toonie world the discipline, breakdown and lineout problems will be solved by dropping Huw Jones or
selecting Horne at full back and bringing back Gilchrist.

Re: 2024 Six Nations
As Russell has suggested, it looked like we thought it was done at 27-0 (and it really should have been).
Big issue, even when we were on top, was the lack of turnovers. When we had the ball, they got a bunch of turnovers and were close to several more, we never really looked likely. Darge will make a difference but I think it may be a deeper issue. During the World Cup we didn't look likely either. I think we are focusing on slowing the ball down rather than getting turnovers, but if you are still giving away penalties that is pointless. If Crosbie is injured, I'd probably try Darge, Christie and Fagerson next week.
Still got an issue in the second row. Some good work in the defensive lineout when Gray was on but just dont feel our locks offer much compared to the best. I think there is a reason Skinner has never fully broken through anywhere.
That lost bonus point could really cost us.
