Hilariously David Price is fighting on the bill, he's like the Amir Khan of the Heavyweight division but without the skill.

Our Joseph Parker is fighting some dude called Carlos Takam here on Saturday. The promoters are carrying on like its the biggest event ever and are saying that if Parker wins he gets a shot at a world title.

I'm largely ignorant of boxing, but is this any sort of thing at all, or just an oversell?

Timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

He is a brain injury waiting to happen. He should seriously quit. Not got the chin to even be a journeyman.

He should follow the path that Tony Jeffries another Olympian has taken. Retired and now coaches on the west coast of USA. Boxing for both boxers and MMA.

He is already ranked no.1 contender for the WBO belt held by Fury and he and Takam are 3 and 4 for Joshuas belt. They may also be in top 5 for Wilders belt.

So it is likely that the winner will be in line one way or another.

Although I haven't seen a great deal of either of them their records show nothing overly special (not sure either have beaten anyone considered top 15 yet) but the HW division hasn't been special for a while. It is picking up now though and to be fair Takam took Povetkin to the 10th even if he took a while to get Sprott out.

I believe the winner is fighting Anthony Joshua, oh dear.

Poor old David Price , he must be pig sick of getting knocked out AND seeing the silly money that his counterparts are earning . Still, don't wish him any harm , perhaps he could try basketball .

David Haye won against a poor fighter on the weekend.

Joseph Parker beat Takam but not convincingly, Povetkin sparked Takam, I would expect Joshua to also.

Takam beat a 45 year old Tony Thompson on points 2 years ago so we're not really talking top level by any means. Parker has nice combinations though lacks the power to take out opponents at a higher level by the looks of it, he was in trouble a couple of times against Takam but showed good heart to come through, his conditioning definitely needs work.

Is Blackwell justified in his comments about the Eubanks?

Seems a bit OTT to me but he obviously feels strongly about the press conference.

I reckon that is a bit OTT. The Eubanks were caught between a rock and a hard place.

I'm not so sure, if Blackwell's family asked the Eubanks to keep quiet then they should of imo as a mark of respect, that's all they had to say to the press.

Well this weekend sees a few fights

Saturday:

Ricky Burns v Michele Di Rocco - Burns big favourite with the bookies as he bids to become only one of a handful of British boxers to hold titles at 3 weights, Di Rocco who has fought no-one of note ever but has a good knockout ratio (45%).

John Ryder is also on the bill and is usually quite entertaining to watch, Conor Benn is fighting so that should be short and sweet.

Anthony Ogogo continues his futile quest, against some journeyman who hasn't even been named yet.

Sunday:

Bellew v Ilunga Makabu Difficult to call this one, Makabu has power and is the bookies favourite, Bellew has a lot of heart and is fighting at Goodison, either a stoppage for Makabu or a points win/late stoppage for Bellew I'm thinking.

Callum Smith v Cesar Hernan Reynoso - this will be over within the first two rounds. Brother Stephen is also fighting for the WBC Silver Super Featherweight title whatever that's supposed to be)

David Price - need I say more.

Thoughts:
Good for Burns but let's be honest, not near those great multiple weight champs. Will probably try and rightfully earn a bit of coin but will lose against the top guys.

Benn need to slow down and stop trying to be eye catching all the time. Left himself open at times.

Didn't catch the other fights on sat

Good for Bellew. Some great shots in there.

Decent rounds for CSmith. Hard to to get up for that type of fight but will be useful experience

Cracking punch from Bellew to finish the job, done well after going down in the first round(didn't look that hurt).

Fighting at his home ground obviously inspired him, I've not seen a fighter so pumped up in the interview after.

Good win for Bellew.

He's calling out David Haye and Haye seems keen, I can't help but agree with Haye that he would smash Bellew to bits, Haye is superb at Cruiserweight.

I thought one of the reasons Have moved to Heavyweight was that he had difficulty making the weight?

Anyway, how about an all British clash. Bellew v Maccarenelli?

Ohhh, I feel a bandwagon coming along. ;)

I thought Haye realised there was noone left to fight at Cruiserweight, 14st 4lbs shouldn't be a stretch for him.

As has been said by some professionals they're two different disciplines, it's daft to say the least, if they wanted to win an olympic medal then they shouldn't have turned pro.

It seems as tho the ethos of the Olympics has gone to the wall in the past 20+ years.

It went when athletics went pro to be honest. it's slightly odd that other sports retain the distinction.

I'd like to see Kell Brook ( GB) fight Amir Khan (Pakstn) over three rounds with their respective vests on .

Apart from that the suggestion is a load of bollocks . Its up there with the underwater motorcycle display team competition .
