I'm an England fan who is so happy to have Launch, Itoje and Kruis but I would take Jonny Gray every day of the week.

You could probably pick him and Itoje for the next 3 tours if for some reason that demand was put to you.

Hogg and Wp only 2 scots

I think the Gray brothers are a little unfortunate but without 3 wins and that all important win over Wales in the 6N that may be it.

Not sure why Wales have 10 players though, they look completely feckless right now , Ireland and England are so far ahead of us and Wales
10? That's utterly bizarrely. Right now I'd have significantly more scots than welsh.

It's a bit weird, Webb, Davies, Warburton, North and g Jenkins all in with very little form to deserve it.

H'penny is also listed, which is rather generous. An excellent player but he was out for ages with injury and is only slowly rediscovering form.

Don't think any Welsh folk on here will disagree. We have been dire for about 2 yrs now.

Who would you take from Wales? AWJ is your best player but in an area of real strength. Webb at 9 isn't useless, which puts him ahead of most. Scott Williams I'm a massive fan of and I might take him. Liam Williams isn't in his best form but might go. Halfpenny gives you kicking option away from 10. North WAS excellent once upon a time. Er... Who the hell else are they taking?

I don't see any reason to take AWJ, plenty experience around the pack and plenty other options.

I'd take AWJ, Liam Williams, Halfpenn, Tipuric .
Gatland will take the first three plus Warburton, Gethin, Roberts, JD and North.

I would say our only nailed on player, for my money best FB in NH, so if that is not his best form there should only be better things to come.

A lot will depend on who the starting 10 is likely to be. If it is Ford, then Farrell or 1/2P will need to play.

10 is going to be interesting. I am not sure Sextons body will hold up on a Lions tour he seems to get injured a lot these days.

He tends to use his head to tackle

The 3 tens on tour will be

Ford
Bigger
Sexton

I don't think Bigger deserves it but Gatland will pick his own players in every 50/50

I think it will be Ford, Farrell and Sexton.

Really 10 will dictate a lot of other positions. If Ford is picked then Farrell or 1/2P probably need to play too.

2 things are certain
1 you don't beat the all blacks by kicking penalties
2 u don't make friends with salad.

Both suggest there is no need to take 1/2p

We could probably make a gentleman's agreement with Barrett to just forego kicking entirely.

On the off topic of welsh players, I dont understand how Scott Williams doesnt start every week for them. No less solid than the others but a lot more creative.

Halfpenny will go but I dont really see the point. Not that he's not a good player but I want Lions outside backs to e capable of something spectacular

If we want more than a couple of players, team prob needs to have a winning season in the 6N - ie three wins. Have to beat the Welsh this year - don't think we have ever beaten them under Gatland? So it's easy to see why there may be lack of respect there.

Would also help Glasgow players if they can get out of their Euro group.

I'd forgotten about Faletau. I'd definitely take him.

Inconsistent, to put it mildly.

Currently developing the next messiah in Bradbury.

Any shoulder injuries probably due to the incessant arm flapping at the ref after his head tackle fails.
Biggar also could be prone to this.

All a muchness , Straus is preferred to Wilson and we also have Bradbury who may grow into it but realistically Bradbury is a bit to small and the other 2 don't have the ability to take a huge step up for international level

Cornell Du Preeze is still there but I don't really see him being anything more than a Mtt Mustchin journeyman

Quiz of the day - How many caps did he get and what head coach used him

No googling

Are you sure? Is he not 6ft 3 or 4 and about 18 stone?

CdP may not make it at international level (wouldn't surprise me either way) but harsh to label him a journeyman IMO. When fit over the last two seasons he has arguably been Edinburghs best player.

Hadden capped Mustchin IIRC. I will say 2 caps but will probably have more. Don't think he was good enough to be capped.
