Not quite a transfer, but Will Muir is out for the season with a knee injury.

Lawrence would be a good fit for nearly every side if he plays to the limit of his potential. When he's on he's excellent. Seems to be a bit one in three or four appearances you get a game like that though. In a way it's a shame he's gone on loan to Bath who a) have centres and b) won't give him much ball to use. Given Porter, Scott and Kelly are unavailable for Tigers then we could have made good use of him for a month.

Horribly bad news for Muir. I guess Bath could always nip up the M5 and borrow another player to cover. Cokanasiga one wing and VDM the other?

Agreed. Of all players potentially ‘available’ and considering Glos centres are no spring chickens the fit would seem good and I’d trust Skivs to get the best out of him consistently. Centre is an under stacked position for us that needs fixing sooner rather than later I think.

Glad to have him back, but does suggest Puitau is off :(

Probably yes, although I suspect Malins is better value in terms of lower salary, higher likelihood of playing and more consistency.

Glos have signed Argentinian prop Mayco Vivas. Loose head I think and pretty young. Quite exciting, might spell the end for Seville perhaps tho.

Without being unkind, I’m not sure Seville ever looked up to it.

Having said that, Argentinian props have been a bit hit and miss in the Premiership. At least Vivas will have some familiar faces to help him settle.

Argentines also seem to settle better when there's a cluster of them at each club. Bearing in mind a lot of these guys are probably operating in or learning a third language it makes sense.

There's probably something in that. You look at the guys in that Newcastle team at the weekend for example.

When LI got Creevy in, three more followed in pretty quick succession (Gigena, Cinti and Gonzales), with Creevy acting as a kind of de facto scout/agent/middleman for the latter two iirc. If their social media is anything to go by, they are extremely tight nit socially outside of rugby.

Agreed. Shame Seville, Walker and Knight never really kicked on from the stellar age grade performances. This guy looks like a unit, and the fact that he’s an international ‘ought’ to mean there’s promise....

Joe Batley rejoins Bristol from the Worcester! Glad there was some cap space to bring him back.

Is he that oddly prolific try-scoring lock/6?

He gave an interview saying he only had enough money to go one month without a pay cheque. I suspect he's jumped at the first passable offer that's come his way. Bristol probably have him at well below market rate.

I suspect a number of teams are carefully reading the injury dispensation rules to see if there's a way of using those to sneak someone under the cap.

Yes. I would have liked him at Quins.

It’s possible Bristol got him for well under market rate, but I’d mentally written them off (along with Saracens) as suitors for the Worcester players. It seems odd that they can have had such well publicised issues with the cost of their squad/accounting f up and now have the spare cash to sign Batley.

Looks like Sutherland to Ulster

Sam Jeffries out for 4 months for Bris, so Batley could very well be injury dispensation for this season and a longer term deal starting next year when Joyce leaves.

Interesting move but I guess MacFarland is aware of what a fantastic player he is when fully fit.

It’s hard not to be sort of enthralled seeing where all the Worcester players end up going.

Ulster were trying to get a deal for the South African loosehead Kitsoff over the line for next season so perhaps this is instead of or just a short term thing until then. Depends how good a deal they got with Sutherland.

MacFarland has done a really good job at Ulster, they play very physical but also very attacking rugby. Got to be an attractive place for an ambitious player to go.

Yeah. It is interesting. I’d imagine that most of the non-English players will leave the Premiership as van der Merwe and Sutherland have.

I’ll be curious to see what happens with the four Bath took given they were originally reported as 1 month ‘loans’. They would have been among the most ‘in demand’ and I’m not sure that Bath would be able to afford to sign them properly (within the cap). I’m also highly sceptical that Bath would be their chosen destination if other options are available.

Plenty of other good players who will be good assets. I’d really like Quins to take Simpson for example. I keep saying it in a vain attempt to make it happen.

That’s not a bad shout. He definitely has his flaws but he’s pretty experienced now and would suit us for the most part.

Whatever happened to that JEFF REECE? He was showing a lot of promise.
