Much better from Glasgow, though Racing were obviously expecting to walk it..
Lineout cockups..??
It`s no wonder Favaro needs a week off after every game.. Total commitment..

Yesterday, those of note

Gray 19/0
Swinson 17/4
Reid 5/3
Wilson 17/2
Favaro 14/0 :o
Dunbar 10/2

Poor from Reid and to a degree Swinson. Not like them. Noticed Reid shooting out Favaro style at least once and in a couple of others games iirc, maybe he's been asked to?

Bad game for Naka, 3/1 and 4 turnovers conceded. Also bought the dummy (albeit a sublime one) for Dunbars score. Anyone know how he's been playing out there? Would almost think his heart wasn't in it playing against Glasgow but apparently he was desperate to play.

Jonny leads the carries with 9 for 8
Fagerson 8 for 15
Wilson 8 for 21
Hogg 8 for 43

Jonny has 4 pens against his name, fairly sure 2 at least were in the lineout trying to get in early before the maul.

The Glasgow mail defense was fantastic, harried the racing team and Scotland needs to adopt that style asap

Watched most of it back (full game is one YouTube now if anyone is interested) and great to see Price follow up a poor game with a great one, Russel look in control and kicking well, Dunbar look back to his destructive best.

Favaro is just great to watch isn't he. Whoever is responsible for the Glasgow defence / line speed needs some real credit. On that note I didn't think Hogg's first miss was quite as bad when you see the way the momentum was going. It was a very sharp bit of play by Machenaud.

Shooting out isn't an excuse for missing tackles though to be fair. But the number of missed tackles in one game can't be used as any indicator of an issue until it becomes regular occurrence. Missing more than 50% of your tackles or even 20% over a several games would be a bigger concern that a one off game.

The missed tackles is one of the biggest reasons I prefer Watson over Hardie for Scotland and don't think Hardie should be in the running for the Lions. He missed far to many.

On the subject of Reid, is there any indication of whether he was carrying a knock over the AI's? He went from 3rd choice being Dickinson and Sutherland (going by summer internationals) to 5th choice behind Dell and Allan too.

Taken from the stats guru "topofthemoon" elsewhere.

From the start of the away match against Racing on 9/1/16 to the end of this season's match against Racing on 10/12/16 JGray has made 348 tackles and missed 2:

Pro 12: 12 matches - 147/2
Champions Cup: 6 matches - 84/0
Tests: 9 matches - 117/0

That is utterly phenomenal and makes a mockery of why he is not held in the same bracket as AWJ and others.

team named tomorrow.

Same as you were, I'd say. Hopefully Favaro's had his shoulder on ice!

1st XV maybe. The bench could be tweaked a little.

I would imagine fly half cover would be very helpful.

Probably. This is also likely the closest Toonie has ever come to naming an unchanged XV.

Shame about Simone but it was expected.

Glasgow should be kicking above Marc Andrew (he is slightly bigger than EINE) with Seymour in Pursuit.
    Nakarawa at 8.

And avoid scrums at all costs. I'd hope Wilson packs down at 8 despite having 7 on his back. He was excellent behind a retreating scrum last week.

Anyone got an opinion on what would be enough to get a runners up spot? On 9 now so three wins would get us to 21. Last season 19 was enough so you'd have to hope 21 would do. Two wins plus some bonus points would give us a chance too. Of course, a munster slip up would help.

Teddy Thomas is a bit useless in Defence as well.
Looks like they are wanting to play a fast paced powerful game from the start and then slow it down.

Looking at the groups you would fancy both of Toulon and Saracens to get over 20 and probs both of Leinster and Montpellier. Wasps and Connacht is a possibility but Group 5 looks very evenly matched.

Fancied a wee bet on Glasgow but the odds on them to win are surprisingly generous. Not the good kind as a gambler :) 4/6 on match result is the best I could find.

I think three more wins would indeed do the trick. That's a minimum of 21 and the possibility of finishing above Munster.

if Glasgow get through, does that mean they are a minimum of pot 2 for next year, or does it not work like that?
