Seb Atkinson signed a proper new deal with Glos. Very encouraging.

From what I’ve read, J Willy’s contract is for 1 year only with an option for a second. I can’t find the terms on the option but…

That's what I understand it to be too.

The backfilling of talent that has gone to France with talent from Wales begins!

Haydon-Wood and Hawkins is a young and exciting 10/12 combination. Hawkins is able to play 10 as well. Really handy signings.

Dunno much about Roots other than he's a Kiwi that was at the Crusaders before Ospreys but is still pretty young.

As noted on Bath v Ex thread, spot on with WH-W.

Had to get one eventually. As a signing it just makes sense as well. Looked a good 10 at Falcons, still only 22. Massy in France wasn't going to be long term move for a player as ambitious as him.

Excellent signings for Exeter. Really pleased to see W H-W coming back to the Prem.

Sale have announced the signing of Tom Ellis with immediate effect until the end of the 23/24 season.

Welcome addition to help the squad in the end of season 'run in'.

Tom Ellis getting about a bit this season. At least he's getting game time. Might well help Bath with the salary cap as well.

Indeed. Probably a good deal for all parties as Sale have a couple of key injuries and need some cover and Tom gets some game time and a contract for next season as well

Who knows but they brought in a number of players mid season. Never hurts to have players that aren't involved out on loan and their salaries being covered by somebody else to give you breathing space.

Mike Williams was allowed to go to Chiefs mid season and this is the second loan for Ellis. Clearly they are looking at balancing the books a little.

If Bath are tight up to the salary cap limit then they are at Leicester image rights scandal levels of mismanagement.

And doing as badly as Tigers did whilst struggling to manage the cap.

No.
Whether we will be from July depends on who's leaving then.

Toulouse are rumoured to be interested in signing Ian Henderson, whose Ulster contract expires at the end of the season.
If he goes, I wonder if he'll still be eligible for the Ireland team?

No, they are pretty strict with the out of the country out of consideration. He's had a few injuries though, maybe he's thinking get a hefty three year contract out of Toulouse whilst he can. He's 31 so it's time for his last big contract.

Very strict, unless you're Sexton

Ellis has now gone permanently, rather than on loan.

He did move to Racing 10 years ago. The only exception in more recent times was Beirne who played for Ireland before Munster having been deemed eligible once he agreed to come back to Ireland.

Maybe the motto then is only go abroad if you are safe in the knowledge that you are a very hard to replace talent.

Speaking of which, Itoje is hinting he may go abroad for his next contract, starting in 2024.

I remember Mark McCall giving media interviews saying the salary cap should be raised last time Itoje negotiated a contract to stop players like him leaving. While Sarries were cheating, as it turns out
