Agreed. If left unchallenged, it will only promote more bad behaviour.

It looks like Ukraine hasn't been given complete freedom to use UK arms on Russia:Zhivago wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:36 pmI think Macron has figured this out too. Allowing Putin to win under the threat of nuclear annihilation makes it very hard to stand up to him in the future. Russia started this fight, I have no issue with allowing Ukraine to win without undue constraints being placed on how weapons are used (noting the need for keeping to international law).

I'm trying to make sense of that whole sentence:Zhivago wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 3:31 pm... says Biden in interview for TIME.I am not prepared to support the NATOization of Ukraine.

But if that's what he's saying, it's not a good thing. He should appear open to idea, even if it's not possible now.But it is not, if you notice, I was the one when—and you guys did report it at TIME—the one that I was saying that I am not prepared to support the NATOization of Ukraine.
He is often rather incoherent. Neither candidate has the mental faculties to be a capable president.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:44 pmI'm trying to make sense of that whole sentenceZhivago wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 3:31 pm... says Biden in interview for TIME.I am not prepared to support the NATOization of Ukraine.

You'd think Europe would have been well immunised from fascism by the events if the 20th century. I guess no one ever thinks that their fascists are fascists . . . until it's too late.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 1:50 pm European elections this weekend, bizzarely Russia could have a 20% voting block by Monday
I was reading about this yesterday. I love the way Russia gets so offended when Ukraine dares to invade Russian territory.Zhivago wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 7:45 pm Hot in Kursk

It was the fact that the Russian spokesman described it as a "provocation" that got me. Oh yeah, Ukraine had better look out with those provocations; Russia might invade them or bomb their cities!Sandydragon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 8:37 amI was reading about this yesterday. Agreed. Anything up to the actual involvement of nato troops in the fighting is fair game.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 10:38 amI get that people are worried about rattling the bear's cage but if the bear's already eating you different rules apply.Puja wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 8:56 amIt was the fact that the Russian spokesman described it as a "provocation" that got me. Russia's already doing its worst. It's not going to use nukes coz it doesn't want to rattle the bigger bear's cage. It's already tried and failed to take the whole country. Sure, it makes a show of lashing out sometimes (like firing a flurry of missiles) but those are just things it was going to do anyway - they shouldn't make the Ukrainians or us falter.
Yes, the logic/message should be USA stay out of it as long as no nukes are used.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 12:44 pmAgreed. A more recent report suggests this is a 2 brigade operation, so not inconsequential numbers.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 3:27 pm Zhivago,
Everything I'm reading suggests that only limited (albeit mobile) Ukrainian troops have been deployed, which points towards a diversionary attack to force Russia to move troops from elsewhere. Is there anything you have found that offers a different view?
