Apparently Gordon Reid is off to Northampton as short term injury cover. Don't know if he is trying to get another pro deal or just got a nice offer

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
Makes sense. Don't think anyone will give him a pro deal - his family won't move & didn't move to LI either. Alarm bells. You'll never get a player at their best in those circumstances for much beyond short term cover.Cameo wrote:Apparently Gordon Reid is off to Northampton as short term injury cover. just short term. Don't think he was looking, he was contacted by Saints, who now have same forwards coach as he had at LI. Coach knew where to look for a good guy who would do a job and not ask for a fortuneCameo wrote:Apparently Gordon Reid is off to Northampton as short term injury cover. Alex Dunbar’s contract at Brive isn’t being renewed. I wonder where he’ll go. Newcastle?

Ici un podcast avec Finn Russell.

Haven’t finished listening to it. No awkward questions thus far.
The Thistle lads have an interview with David Denton out tomorrow. The last one with Gordon Reid was decent.

No new Messiah but i read that Scott Murray, our 2nd row from 20 years ago, has been appointed co-head coach of the San Diego Legion.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Finlay Christie off the bench for the Blues down in Auckland. Seemed to play well, although did get caught when taking a 5 metre line-out at the end of the game when they were going for something different. Was quite funny.
Also looks like he’s been in the gym a bit.

There is a rumour that Tim Swinson has been tempted out of retirement with a flexible 1 year deal with Saracens...

Wow. Great news for him if he can get regular game time. What are sarries seeing that the SRU did not? I suspect he is very cheap by their usual wages though.

I don’t think the SRU missed anything. There was something behind the scenes that meant he was persona non grata at Edinburgh. I think. Pity, as I reckon he’s more than useful.

Yeah, I think everyone always rated him but something mysterious went on. Probs not a bad thing as long as he gets game time. Bit of a logjam of second rows at Edinburgh.General Zod wrote:https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/53082987hugh_woatmeigh wrote:septic 9 wrote:Callum Hunter-Hill has signed a 3 year contract for Saracens

the SRU missed nothing, he is highly rated, very highly. And he is not persona non grata at Edinburgh, they did not want him to go. I made this point a couple of weeks back. Sometimes there are things happen in life beyond conspiracies. And reasons beyond rugby, beyond money. At the end of the day its just a job. A good one while it lasts, but that's itGeneral Zod wrote:https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/53082987hugh_woatmeigh wrote:septic 9 wrote:Callum Hunter-Hill has signed a 3 year contract for Saracens

I think that is the thing. Sometimes when a player leaves a club it is simply a player leaving. Not always a scandal or falling out just a player leaving for his own reasons which is perfectly fine.septic 9 wrote:the SRU missed nothing, he is highly rated, very highly. It is actually good for Scotland. They may be in a shite league but I doubt standards will be allowed to drop in that group of people that include a potential lions captain in his position.

Fair enough. Glad he’s not non grata.septic 9 wrote:the SRU missed nothing, he is highly rated, very highly. And he is not persona non grata at Edinburgh, they did not want him to go. Christie heavily (possibly illegally) involved in a very good Blues try. Seems to be established second choice.

He came off the bench again and played really well I thought in a narrow Blues win v Highlanders.Cameo wrote:Christie heavily (possibly illegally) involved in a very good Blues try. Seems to be established second choice.

Ewan Johnson (21), has been signed by the RC Vannes (Britanny) rugby club to play as Lock.
Supposedly he was developed By Racing 92 - so fits the French league "developped player" quota.

Did people ever confirm whether Will Jordan is qualified. Firmly out the question but has made me follow him more closely. He is some player. All Blacks have some serious options at 15.

interesting big lump, shame he didn't get kept on at Racing which was clearly what he wanted - and Scotland.Adder wrote:http://www.rugbyclubvannes.bzh/arrivee- ... n-2020-21/

A bit more than developed by Racing. He is Q for us, Wales, Eng and France. He wants to stick with Scotland but ..............he is more valuable to a French team if he doesn't

I believe Glasgow were very close to signing him as a Hogg replacement last summer - that's what fueled the SQ rumour.Cameo wrote:Did people ever confirm whether Will Jordan is qualified. Did we have a list somewhere on here of potential SQ players? Trying to find it - am sure there was some full back in super rugby not mentioned above who is SQ.
Maybe somebody better at the Internet than me could knock one up on Wikipedia. Am sure agents would be all over it once it’s up and running.
