Replace ‘guns’ with ‘marriage’ and it’s nothing my long suffering wife has repeatedly told her friends.

It’s both, but one can easily be solved by the legislature whilst the other can’t.
Definitely one, for sure.

I just heard this, and had to check out the maths for myself.

US gun deaths 2014-Today (so 50 months) = 58,614
http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/ & http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/past-tolls

Vietnam War US Casualties (so 234 months) = 58,220

The lack of leadership from this wanker is just stunning. Completely rudderless. I assume he will be in Florida this weekend, to play golf. Fuck me.

On this one issue he isn't in practice any worse than Obama, Bush, Clinton...

True, but it's one of those issues that even if the Dalai Lama or Gandhi was somehow elected US president, there would be very little they could do to enforce sensible gun controls...even with a majority.

Obama at the very least tried to make it more difficult for some potentially high risk people to purchase a firearm, but the giant orange turd undid that restriction.

He stopped in on his way to the weekends golf. A few photos and then fucks off. Check out his twitter....there are two pictures of him with hospital staff with an insincere grin and flashing a "thumbs up". He has absolutely no idea what to do. Rather than front up to the families of the victims, he elects to play golf. Fuck.

If he interrupted his busy schedule for every mass shooting he'd never get anything done.

The photo ops were bizarre to say the least. The smiles on the faces of the doctors and nurses looked strained at best, all except for Trumps. Classic smile and his little thumb raised after people have died or are left seriously injured.

Theo only way to deal with the issue is one bit at a time. Even that will require will, a majority and a lot of resilience. Trump doesn't see there being a problem.

Though there does remain gun sales are down under Trump, and whilst Obama saw there was a problem he was either unwilling to spend his political influence on legislating the issue, he just shunted down the line for the next person, along with he was rather powerless on the subject given how (the Republican) congress was behaving

Tightening controls on ownership and banning certain accessories would be a start and a limited project like this could be sold given the current climate. The NRA would oppose it vehemently of course, but it wouldn’t prevent gun ownership but it would be a start.

Sadly, there seems no will even for these small steps.

Sometimes they manage to ban a certain type of hand grip. But at best the various leaders just leave it to the next person, and Hillary wasn't out campaigning she was going to do much, though maybe that's better than the seeming attitude of just not giving a shit as we get with Trump

I knew arming the teachers and other staff was the answer.
"If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms," he said, "they could very well end the attack very quickly."
Well done Trump.

What if there was more than one attacker, and they targeted the teachers as well as the kids?
"We'll arm the students too," he replied, "Obama didn't have the balls to do it, but I've got the balls. The biggest and best balls." he continued
One of the above quotes is fake news, but it's not immediately obvious which one.

Do we have a figure for accepted amount of kids shot in the crossfire?

Christ. What a fucking mess.

I’d not even considered the point above that all it really means as a teacher if you are given a gun (and you’d hope some sort of training) is that you are guaranteed to be the first person shot by the next nut job that tries this.

That’s assuming they’re not expected to be teaching gun-in-hand at all times.

And a contradiction:

Complains about fake news saying he wants to give guns to teachers when he never said that. He said he wanted to give guns to gun adept teachers.

Fucking hell.

No, they're gun adept teachers. Bigly difference.
