Err
...yes?
Anyone perhaps got anything more insightful on what this Richie guy offers? We're not overly well stocked at 6 so it seems a reasonable enough question.

From what I have seen and given his age (19) I think he is showing signs of real potential. Needs to add a bit of bulk to his frame but that should come in time.
With Ritchie, Miller and Bradbury we have a few young 'uns in the back row with potential. Edinburgh could probably do with someone to replace Grant as the 3rd 7.
Gauging the availability of Ally Hogg may not be a bad option as an elder statesman/experienced leader/ coach/ occasional gametime type.

Not a bad shout with Ally Hogg, but I'd say the backs are in much greater need of some more experience.

Agreed but I wasn't looking at it as "one or the other" type situation.

Has Glenn Bryce been confirmed or is it just "paper talk"?

Interesting if true. I personally prefer Bryce to Murchie as 15 cover for Glasgow. Murchie is currently the better player but I still think Bryce has a lot of unfulfilled potential despite being probably mid 20s now!
Kinghorn has shown enough to start at 15 IMO but if they see him as more of a 10 it could make sense. If Edinburgh sign a top quality 12 or one of the weeg centres they could end up with a very decent (and Scottish) backline to complement that pack.

Ritchie is currently strong over the ball and pretty good at choosing when to go in for it and when not to for his age. Still plenty to work on though but real potential. Not seen much of a carrying game yet and the way Edinburgh play hasn't lent itself to being on the shoulder in support play so hard to say what he can work on there. The thing that I like about him is that he seems to have a good engine and tackling technique looks good, the fundamentals look to be there for a really good blindside.

Only a twitter rumour but apparently Edinburgh are after Junior Rasolea from the Western Force. Plays centre or wing. Bit of a unit.

6ft and 16 stone is a bit of a unit. Not seen him play so can't really comment.

Looking at those out of contract in the West I think there are a couple who could be worth picking up as squad filler. This is slightly out of date after the recent resignings but a good indicator:
https://topofthemoongw.wordpress.com/20 ... g-forward/
Holmes wouldn't be the worst 3rd choice 7. There doesn't appear to be any EDP 7s tied to Edinburgh about (the U20 7 is Glasgow).
If it is felt more 6s are required or more experience is required then James Eddie wouldn't be a bad shout.
If there is a need to spend the budget else and/or Kinghorn is going to be installed as 1st choice next season then Murchie wouldn't be a horrible pick up so long as Cuthbert is gotten rid of.
Not signings that will help the 1st XV or set the world alight but would be ok for depth I suppose.

New signing being announced soon. Bryce or that Aussie centre I imagine.

Can't blame him, the Toony tombola frustates me even as a spectator. He should get far more game time over there and we should hopefully see his development kick on.

Sorry I dont get that at all. He might get more gametime now at Edinburgh but it is the "Toony Trombala" that has give him a chance in professional rugby. He would have also had a lot of games this season if he didnt get injured at an unlucky time.

Delighted with that signing. I hope that we've signed him to play full-back and he gets a fair go at it. He runs some nice angles and is pretty solid. It can't be any worse than the combination of Cuthbert, Tonks and McLennan (has he played this year) that we had at the start of the season.

Apparently we're signing Jason Tovey on loan for the rest of the season.

Not sure I see the point unless it is some kind of trial. Could just play Kinghorn, if not, Burleigh for our last few games. Has Te Rure gone?

Still coming back from injury last I heard. Don't see the point in Tovey. I doubt that he'll disposes Burleigh and if we wanted a back-up we could have gone and gotten Hunter back from glasgow now that they've signed Clegg. Hopefully he ends up proving me wrong though and takes the ten shirt.

Is the wee fat standoff really moving to Edinburgh at the end of this season?

That's a rather belated admission from Solomons that he's c0cked up by not having a proper 10 on the books this season.
Actually think Tovey is a decent player. Wouldn't have him at Glasgow mind you but when you're at Embras level you have to go scrabbling around in the bargain basement.
Embra need to keep trying for Top6 and having an established stand-off is no bad thing. Can see burleigh getting shifted back to centre.

A few seasons ago I thought Tovey was going to really kick on but he seemed to struggle
Good signing till the end of the season ,

More signing news before mid-day according to the Edinburgh twitter. The only rumours I've heard are the Aussie centre, so likely to be him.

Where do you get these rumours from btw. Apart from the odd article in the papers my only rumours come from here.
