That should've been prime 1st phase attacking play ball there. Scrum on the halfway line, secure possession - why did we not have something prepared?

Mistakes, stupid penalties conceded and disorganised in defence. Apart from that . . .

Surely an ideal time to hit Manu flat straight at the Japanese 10. He's rushing up going to be a tough tackle to make.

I was going to comment exactly on that. No set moves up the sleeve at all?

My gods, we look like we met in the carpark 5 minutes before. No-one's got the first clue where any of their teammates are or what they're going to do next.

Maybe we're keeping them a secret for the World Cup?

Really evenly matched scrums so far

I was under the impression that keeping the same backline in place might actually result in some sort of fluency, or a passable impression of it, breaking out.

Someone get on there with some towels to wipe the butter off their fingers. I know it's humid but come on lads.

So I confidently said to the wife after the opening 10 minutes "England are really just going to get better and better from here.". I have a history of being wrong so you'd think I would've learned by now. She knew, raised a cynical eyebrow and is now giving me pelters.

We had penalty advantage, clean ball at the back of the maul, all of our backs available and then we somehow end up with Ford so isolated that he literally had not a single option other than a kick (which he executed execrably). What the fuck.

Maybe we should try some kicks in behind to beat the blitz.

Must be worrying for England that their only points have come from unforced Japanese errors.

All the backs either over ran it or were cut off by the Japanese centre racing out the line.

Even worse at the next lineout when Earl inexplicably throws into George's face.

Pop pass to the face on the wrap around, form miraculously clean line out ball, 5ms out, is both literally and figuratively a bit on the nose.
