Happy with that. He's 29, 32 when deal finishes. If he's still in the national squad by that time, then great, he's playing well. If not, he's certainly more than useful for the games when the internationals are on.

Two more years for Seymour. Horne up next I guess.

Good signing, this was probably his last chance at a big contract so I imagine he'll be well paid at Weeg under this contract. He'll be 31 by the time he starts his contract after this one.

I thought this would have been "new" contract news so was quite interested. I guess it's just the 'official' announcement as Swinson, Seymour and Horne were all but confirmed the other day.

Still superb news though. Swinson is having his best season yet. Absolutely no reason for an Edinburgh lock in the 23 this 6N.

Are they playing poorly or do you think Swinson has improved that much? I like what he offers but just feel he's not international standard.

I think he is overshadowed by Gray at Glasgow but if he moved along the m8 he would be first choice starter.

I actually think Mackenzie is probably the second most talented lock we have in Scotland behind J Gray but not seeing the best of him in this Edinburgh team, that year. he got injured when everyone expected him to get capped was unfortunate for him but him and most of the other Edinburgh players seem content with being mediocre

From Eds point of view I can't think of 2 players who are out and out deserved starters for Scotland

Watson is the only one for me,

Thats pretty woeful from Edinburgh

MacKenzie is no more than a squad player IMO. A lot of Edinburgh fans seem to rate MacKenzie a lot higher than I do. I see Toolis as the best SQ 2nd row for Edinburgh. When Bresler is fit I'd have him and Toolis starting.

Swinson deserves the bench 2nd row shirt but not convinced he'll have the same impact at international level, but he deserves the chance. Same sort of view as I had with Visser and others.

Gilchrist injured again? Doesn't seem to appear in this conversation at all.

I'd still say Dickinson and Nel are two of the first names on the teamsheet when fit. Granted, maybe not "out and out" starters, tho. Think this time next year, Fagerson and Nel will be a very tough call.

Agreed, particularly with Eskimo, that cat hasn't really put a foot wrong for either Embra or Scotland.

Scraping the barrel there for decent back row cover with Ashe not registered as well. Favaro is a huge, huge, huge loss. I feel less optimistic now that he is out. Can't fault the team otherwise.

Surprised at no Johnson as he has played all 4 games in the cup so far. Bennett deserves the shirt though.

Id agree Favaro is first choice but Id have Jones over Sato

Bench as a whole doesnt look the strongest but most of them have had some good gametime recently. I dont know the rules but is there no scope for adding ashe as emergency cover?

Fair enough, I suppose if they werent confident in Fagerson they shouldnt have put him in the squad (not that I have any reason to doubt him apart from his age). Been unlucky with our injuries as we actually have good depth in the second/backrow

Also, Brian is back next week now so that's a bonus

Yeah, the bench is pretty concerning on further reflection. If Russell goes down early then Glasgow are in for a a long night.

I reckon Glasgow need to have this in the bag by 60/65 mins. Munster will win a tight contest if it comes down to the impact of the bench in the last 20.
