What an absolute shambles. They should be ashamed of themselves. Why on earth are they not getting Cockerill in with immediate effect? It's not like Toulon have anything left to play for.

Because Cockerill even as a consultant will be under contract.

The SRU don't buy people out their contracts.

If the last few games is what it takes to get Hodge and co the sack it's a price worth paying.

I'd love to know what the attendance was to justify this being played at Murrayfield. I recall being surprised when it was announced a few weeks ago. Edinburgh were not far off a result today & a noisy crowd could have made a huge difference.

An extra 1k people maybe? Call it 30k extra gate revenue. Is that really going to do anything for Edinburgh's bottom line? The venue choice was a mistake then and it's a mistake in hindsight.

I'm sure there is a nonsense rule about min attendance.

On us side. LR -4 and a wee horse made me 50 off 10 tonight.

Would have been a bit rash to ignore the rules then and in hindsight

Is that not for the champions cup?

Genuine question. If it was enforced then I'll retract my claim. I'm not convinced it was. Seems rather odd

I thought it was for both but I could be wrong. I think when the myreside trial was arranged they probs had to say which games it was for anyway. At that stage they probs thought a european quarter final would be a big draw. I wouls have gone down but watched too many of their games recently

The way this team plays when the pressure is off tells you everything you have to know about their ability, but the way they play when something matters is a bit shocking. They clearly want it really bad and where pressing super hard after they got within 7 and the errors just creeped in. It was clear that it was a team that isn't used to winning and wasn't sure how to keep their composure and really put the last few finishing touches on it.

I don't really know if Steve Scott coaches the forwards, I assume he does, but as a hooker himself, his coaching of lineout throwing is just shocking. Ford and McInally float the ball in, it makes it so so easy to contest Edinburgh lineouts and makes getting the ball in quickly to drive a lineout or something difficult.

I thought Dean had a very good game and is a natural footballer. I thougt Hoyland had a good second half and has serious pace.

We gotta get rid of Berghan, he simply can't scrummage.

The attendance was just short of 5.5k BTW so absolutely no reason not to hold this at myreside if it was allowed.

See it's my understanding that all knock out round games have to be held at grounds with min 15k attendance

That isn't possible. There were QFs quite recently at AJ Bell & The Stoop which do not exceed 15k (happy to be corrected).

I obviously don't have all the facts & it's besides the point. It won't change my view on Petrie - a man who is woefully out of his depth.

I think a good coach, good pre season and a good start and Edinburgh could get into top 6. But I reckon some players will need to let go, teams don't get that. As when everyone is pushing in the same direction.

Cockerill want put up with suck ups or back chat so some will be gone. A couple of good marquee players would help also.

I probably have it in for Petrie more because I'm exposed to senior managers at big firms like him on a daily basis. He does not tick the boxes required of a MD. Would any of the mid table Scottish Prem (football) teams hire him as a managing director? The skills are transferable. The answer is absolutely not. It's a job for the boy. The guy gave Solomons a new contract despite taking Edinburgh backwards (as if that was possible) only to sack him a short while later with absolutely no backup plan.

What Edinburgh should have done is brought in an experienced managing director with the correct credentials and most importantly someone with some objectivity and impartiality. I wonder if it was a rushed & impulsive appointment after it became apparent that Davies' position was untenable as he was totally incompetent? Who knows.

Ford got fired for failing to qualify to the semi finals

Cockerill in charge till end of season

Think they already have someone planned for next season but Toulon are mental, mind u if i dropped £25 million i would expect to win every game

Gotta feel for Cockers...working with all that world class talent.

And then he'll arrive in Embra..

It must be quite tricky to coach Toulon, most of the team have either won a grand slam, won the world cup at international level, what do you tell these guys, (never forgetting that some of that team have also won a european cup twice)
