John Beattie is rocking the boat with his former club Bayonne by inferring that he was forced out of the club by their President telephoning him and saying "You're old, not JIFF (joueurs issus de la filière de formation - a player that comes through the development ranks) and we're going to sack you. We need props for next season and Census Johnston has been signed and given a contract. We'll invent a case of serious professional misconduct to get rid of you, or you accept compensation of 30% and leave. If you take us to court, I hope you've got enough money to care for your wife and children and pay the rent because it takes two years to gain compensation through the courts. We don't want you back for the pre-season."

Bayonne President, Philippe Tayeb, has apparently instructed his lawyers to contest Beattie's comments.

There must be some truth in what Beattie has said but it'll surely be a case of "his word against theirs", and will maybe not go any further.

I know that a quagga was a type of zebra which is now extinct. People were fond of them but shot them into oblivion at the same time. Anyway, “Kwagga” is the Afrikaans name for a quagga (pronounced with a guttural “g”) and is just a nickname. You don’t have to be particularly zebra-like to earn it - it’s more a term of affection that seems to stick with some people.

I know no more about the boy van Niekerk, other than he was decent for the age grade side pre-pandemic and got injured. Probably not the information you were looking for, but I hope he comes through with that name.

played for the U20s couple of years back. He would have been in competition then with Tom Marshall and Jack Mann. I think that was the season Darge missed with injury, so might have been in competition with him, or might not have been selected if Darge had been fit. Personally I though he was average. The article reads like an agent's placing a come and get me for the lad, so its just a bit unlikely he'll be over here next season given budgets will have been allocated, unless it was for a trial or injury cover

2 tries and 13 offloads for Hutchinson yesterday. 2 missed tackles, out of 16 (so evidently being targeted a bit). Does feel like that's got him in the international dog house, which is a shame as he offers so much in attack.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Sam Skinner picked up a red card this weekend which may well take him out of the contention for the summer games. He was in fantastic form, pretty sure he's picked up 2 MOTMs in the last few weeks too.

Very interested to see what happens with Jones. Surely no shortage of clubs who'd be interested, but as mentioned who is going to have that money laying around at this stage of the season?

Former linked with everyone Toulon appear to have signed Jonathan Joseph, so won't be them. Ulster would appear to suddenly have some budget free and have
no salary cap issues,

A Bok side is a good call as jt would keep him playing same league as now and in Toonie 's eye. But he would be on much less than at Bayonne.
