Not shocked he's off, been rumours he was heading to France but can understand him wanting to go back.

Possibly frees up space for Tom Jordan to move to 15 and keep hold of Harry Byrne.
Interesting one from Sarries. If I remember correctly he left because he wanted to play full back rather than wing so presume he’s had some assurances there. Suppose they are a bit light there with Goode coming to the end.

Would think Sarries would be better set signing some half backs and maybe a big lock to complement Itoje.

Parton has left Sarries mid season and Liam Williams is on a short term deal so there should be some cap space. Goode can't carry on forever as well.

Tizard was supposed to be Sarries big lock. Big locks are also pricey. Promoting Sodeke a possibility.

where did Parton go? Always thought he looked like he could have been a big star.

Japan. Yeah I thought he looked good at LI and last season for Sarries. Bit surprised he made the move but he did have a couple of injuries and maybe feels like the Japanese league will suit him.

Malins to Saracens makes sense. Also, with England opting for a playmaking 15, he might see an opportunity to press his claim.

Tizard’s move to Saracens hasn’t really worked out except for boosting his bank balance. He’s playing regularly but has gone from looking like a stand out player to looking no more than decent.

He really would have been better off staying at Quins where he would likely have established himself as a key player (arguably he already had).

As it is, it wouldn’t be a shock if Sodeke leapfrogs him.

excellent runner from 15- maybe not solid enough. I just like 15 to be really quick tbh.

Unsubstantiated rumour that Sarries first choice was Steward and the Malins was heading to Lyon. Lyon withdrew their offer after his achilles injury and Steward turned down Sarries to stay at Tigers. Bristol had already brought in Jordan so Malins and Sarries ended up coming to and agreement.

Yep. Some sins can’t be forgiven.

Charlie Morgan goes in depth into how Bath are managing the salary cap and fitting a quart into a pint pot: https://archive.ph/TQsGQ

Interesting article, although we've already had a sneak preview here with some of the extrapolations being the same as Which's analysis a couple of weeks ago. Arundell apparently is something of a bargain at £190k as you suspected! I wonder if he's on a promise for an EPS contract or just hopeful of one?

To be fair that's good money for a winger who's got lots of potential but not many consistent seasons under his belt.

I see Ruck.co.uk are living down to their reputation - seeming to confuse Bernard van der Linde (24 year old scrum half with 5 starts for the Bulls) with a 24 year old CJ Van Der Linde (44 year old prop with 75 Springbok caps)

From reading the comments from saffas, he can't throw in. :?

Also sale have signed young quins hooker Nathan Jibulu.

Rumoured for the longest time, but still a bit of a shame for Quins. He's a great prospect and hopefully won't suffer too much disruption in his development from moving clubs.

Gives Sale a great long term front row with Rodd, Jibulu and AOF all in their early twenties. Onasaya and Harper as back ups as well.

Max Lahiff on his podcast dropping a rumour that Bath are touting around some well known players to clubs offering to help cover part of their remaining contracts if they move on early. Wilson starts the chat by saying Bath are looking to cut costs to get under the cap. I'm guessing by the wording of the conversation they mean for next season.

I've said all year, that I think Bath may have run out of patience with Coka, especially at his current salary; and we've now gone and replaced his place in the team as well. Of course, he's scoring tries again this year, but he's also still costing them (both in not converting opportunities, and by gifting them in defence)
I would be more surprised if we're not touting him around for a move (assuming he's willing).

We've also all said that with arrivals but (so far) just 2 leavers, more need to go - not so much "looking to cut costs" as "the usual balancing act that all clubs go through every summer".

Of course, phrasing either thing that way is far less clickbaity a week or so after everyone and their dog is accusing Bath of cheating the cap.

Anscombe was a one year deal and Carerras is off to Bath.

Didn’t realise Anscombe was only one year. Guess he’ll finally get that Japan move now he’s proven his fitness a bit.

Rumoured for a while, but first confirmation we've had. Has it been injuries that've kept him away from Quins much? I know he had the big one early, but I had been under the impression that it was purely selection that's limited his appearances this season.

Hopefully a reset with a new club will be just what he needs.

I thought it was stranger from the POV of him being a conservative, paint by numbers type of 10 which doesn’t align with the more adventurous style of play that’s served them well this season.
