I completely missed Nick Grigg going off to Japan. Never a top international but has been great to watch at Glasgow over the years.

I feel bad because despite what he offered I could never see past his stature, but yeah he ran some fantastic lines and threw 100% in to everything. That performance off the bench against England where he made about 20 tackles in 15 minutes was incredible.Cameo wrote:I completely missed Nick Grigg going off to Japan. Good luck to him.

Duhan starting for Worcester, so hopefully he wasn’t that ill!
Hogg starts for Exeter as do Gray and Skinner in the boilerhouse.

Loads more too. Hutchinson starts at 12 and Jones and Redpath are facing off at centre. I'll be keeping an eye on Chapman starting at 9, inside of Harris at 13. Sutherland starts at loose head, though I reckon Worcester scrum will get munched. Ashman continues to look like the first choice pick at Sale. Hunter-Hill and Swinson start, with Christie and Maitland on the bench.General Zod wrote:Duhan starting for Worcester, so hopefully he wasn’t that ill!

There's even a D'Arcy Rae sighting at tighthead for Bath.

Rae started the season as 3rd choice, behind Stuart and Jonker; but then Jonker proved that not all big Saffer props are actually any good, even if they have a decent reputation, and Rae forced his way ahead over the first couple of months .septic 9 wrote:switchskier wrote:

Yeah I always struggle to pick apart what is going on in scrums, but despite Quins being on too early I feel like he was still part of the scrum when Bath turned it around?

This has been floating around (I have completely failed to embed it properly but you get the gist):
167 - Finn Russell gained 167 metres from his carries against Stade Toulousain, the only player to gain 100+ metres in the TOP 14 in Round 16; in fact, it was the most by any player in a TOP 14 game this season. Racing.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
quite a lot was IIRC running back kicks, which he then often kicked as well. Not a criticism, just the nature of a tight game. Russell kicked a lot, not fancy stuff or huge touch finders, just pressing Toulouse deep time and again, keeping the pressure on them. Was a determining factor in the match. Again showing he is a lot more than a so called maverickCameo wrote:This has been floating around (I have completely failed to embed it properly but you get the gist):

And kicked his one attempt at goal. Again

Still feels like Scotland could have got more from him. I was excited by the Exeter move but he just never gets any gametime, with their first choice 9 not being particularly impressive.
I hope he has a nice time in Italy.

Disappointing. I'd still have him ahead of Ben White in the international squad. Does that put him up against Braley at Treviso?Adder wrote:

He should, Treviso is a bonny place.Mikey Brown wrote:

Plus, if he`s a single, pro. sportsman, there are many VERY attractive diversions for his leisure time..

not sure if married but he has/had a partner and at least one kidTobylerone wrote:He should, Treviso is a bonny place.Mikey Brown wrote:

bluntly, Exeter have 3 very average 9s and SHC can't demand a big wage these days. Says all I need to know really
He is destined to wander a season or 2 here and there, but you are so right, worse places than Treviso to do that, single or not

Jones potentially back to Glasgow?

I can’t see enough of the article to know what it’s based on. It surely can’t guarantee him a World Cup squad spot?

Hutchinson starting for Northampton on free to air TV for those that don't want to shell out to watch English prem (and that are allowed by friends and family to watch evenore rugby during the 6N).
Interesting to see McCallum start again for Worcester too. He seems second choice behind Sutherland now.

Hogg scored a try and beauty of a drop goal today. Jonny Grays carrying is really poor right now. No venom in his carries or tackles.

Yeah he's looked like a real plodder for a little while now. I don't know if it's an issue with fitness, motivation, his role on the pitch or whatever else, but could really do with seeing him fired up a bit more frequently than we do.Big D wrote:Hogg scored a try and beauty of a drop goal today. Just watched the Racing Champions Cup game. They are a flawed side but it is so good seeing Russell with runners in motion around him. Even opens it up for his running game.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
Hutchinson seems to have settled in to the 12 role a bit more. Yeah he's not the best defender but he offers so much of what we're lacking in midfield, (particularly if he were to partner Harris) pace, vision, soft hands, a sidestep. He's such a natural link-man. With Redpath still out I think we just need to give him a full pre-season and hope he can put this last year or so behind him.
Jones has been great for Quins at fullback in the last few weeks, will be great to see him and Ollie Smith vying for the 15 shirt in the summer if Hogg is rested.

Yes, Huw Jones seems to be enjoying his rugby with Harlequins and if this vein of form continues, then Hogg's place will be in serious jeopardy.Mikey Brown wrote:
