Hungary not interested in winning this. Who can blame them?

England Portugal will be interesting and pretty even. To be honest a pretty lucky draw for England, you feel like coming second in your group should see you up against some big boys.

Oh, and now its not even Portugal. They'll play Iceland. Talk about a cushy draw.

Full time 3-3.

As it stands it's Portugal but not sure if the other match has finished!

Fucking hell!!

Iceland score in injury time!

As it stands, Iceland!

Well done Woy.

How is Henry a pundit, he just said Portugal didn't go for the win?? They spent the last 40 minutes berating the Hungarian box?!

Tbh, Portugal look very ropey but England struggle against them and Ronaldo has come to life a bit.

Happy with that.

I think he's on about the last 5-10 mins or so. Portugal did seem to lose interest in going for it. Hungary were happy with the draw. The one touch passing between two of their defenders for about (what felt like) 4 hours confirmed that.

Pretty good result for England but I know which side of the draw I prefer.

It's obvious Woy thought Wales would play for the 0-0 draw against Russia and settle for runner's up. He also thought a draw, or better would've seen us top the group.

Naive management at best...smacks of complacency too.

Still, if and it's a big IF England can put in an excellent display against Iceland and manage to score a few goals, it may just kick start our attack and get a bit of confidence in the squad.

But like I say, IF.

From the Beeb:
Four third-place teams go through - and three have been decided: Slovakia, Portugal and Northern Ireland.

Turkey occupy the final spot, but will wait to see if one of Belgium, Sweden or the Republic of Ireland from Group E can do enough to usurp them.

If a Group E team does qualify from third position, then Wales will face Northern Ireland in the last 16.

If a Group E team doesn't qualify from third position, then Wales will face Turkey and Northern Ireland play France.

It certainly is a big 'if'...:)

Iceland, population 300,000, through to the last 16 !!!

I think Turkey needs Sweden to lose in order to qualify.

This is a great format. Rugby really ought to follow suit. Imagine a 24-team World Cup with 16 sides going through to the second round, including the 4 best 3rd-placed teams. That would really intensify the group stages, with practically every team in the hunt right down to the final round of pool games. :P

Iceland V Austria stats.

Possession: Iceland = 30% - Austria = 70%
Shots (On Target): Iceland = 11(3) - Austria = 23(7)
Corners: Iceland = 3 - Austria = 7

I wonder if Austria are happy with their dominant performance? Perhaps they can think about that on the flight home?

It's all about goals Woy.

They missed a gold opportunity a few moments ago and it looked like they wouldn't get another chance as good as that.

Then a beautifully weighted cross is met by Brady who heads past Sirigu.

Ireland through as it stands.

Wales, England, NI and Ireland all through.

Wonder what odds you would've got on that a few months ago?

So Mr P.,
just how can a country of such massive population and wealth not win a single game or progress from their group when all 4 little countries in the British & Irish Islands succeed ?
Popn......GDP
145 M., £3700 T. - Rus

53 M, £2.7 T. - Eng
4 M., £250 B. - Ire
3 M., £50 B. - Wal
2 M., £45 B. - N.Ire

( .you're lucky Scotland had a blip in the qualifiers, as they would definitely go through too..)

I don't think they're investing a lot of money into football in Eastern Europe, are they? They're got more pressing concerns to deal with. It was different under communism, and the USSR actually won the Euros and made the grand final on 4 occasions (from 8 tournaments). England has yet to make the final (after 15 tournaments).

True, but dinnae forget it was USSR not Russia so included Ukraine, Byelorussia, Georgia the Baltic states and a few Stans.
Their footy teams were like machines.
