On the bright side, one of the major culture-war cancers has gone. Tucker Carlson abruptly no long has a job, shortly after Fox settled with Dominion for "undisclosed terms".
If none of the above words mean much to you - he was the worst kind of right-wing television rabble-rouser with an infuriating style of asking witless, spurious, leading, rhetorical questions with a baffled look on his face, like the world was being stupid, rather than him, and he was made worse by not even being a true believer - he knew the shit he was stirring was toxic lies and he did it because it gave him money and influence. Also he had a weird thing about green M&Ms not being sexy anymore and it being wokeness to blame. However, the company that runs his show just had to settle a defamation lawsuit for $767m and now the chocolate-fucker doesn't have a job anymore. Good times.

He cost them more money after the Dominion settlement than they were making advertising silver colloidal erectile enhancement enemas or whatever. There is another law suit from a Florida voting machine company coming too ( ~2-Bill, I think). All about money.
If I hear the word woke used in official political discourse for too much longer, I will exercise my God given right to reach for my pump action super-soaker, head to the nearest aged day care facility and unleash wet Tee shirt hell in an oddly erotic fit of pique.

Or on OAN, no doubt. He'll work out fine. However, what he won't be doing is poisoning the minds of average Americans in a primetime show with one of the biggest megaphones available. It's a net good for the human race.

It's good in the short-term but I'm sure Fox has no shortage of mind-poisoning replacements lined up. They'll just make sure all WhatsApp messages are set to disappear this time.

Hopefully he fades into insignificance, anyone remember Bill O'Reilly?
Truth is, you don't need any kind of genius to fill that slot, fluff white grievance conspiracy theories, rally against woke-ism, rinse, repeat, voila, 3 mill viewers.

Oh yes. It's a viable income stream being white and aggrieved. Like a social welfare program for feckless crackers.

Do we know why he was sacked? Was it because he was publicly found to have told lies or because he insulted Trump?

The official story is "mutual consent". The unofficial is that it was act of Murdoch, although no-one's saying whether it was a clause in the Dominion settlement, the new courtcase about sexual discrimination, or something entirely different. Can't think it'd be about insulting Trump - Trump probably doesn't even know it happened given it wasn't reported on Fox.

Podcast I listened to earlier suggested that it was the scale of the financial loss that done for him, although he’s by no means the only fallguy.
Allegedly Carson is being lined up by Russia Today.

Joe Biden's main quality is indeed "Not Being Donald Trump". It is the thing that he's best at, although he does sometimes slip on things like immigration policy.

They need to ditch the fucking electoral college, which has given us two Republican mutants in the last 5 elections that failed to win the popular vote (Bush Jr. and Trump). As long as this hangover from slavery exists, a progressive candidate of any shape or form is on a hiding to nothing. It's completely FUBAR. Look up the Three-Fifths Compromise....it is absolutely and utterly inhumane. America has to reform this cynical medieval bullshit.

Aha. I hadn’t considered that would be Sandydragon asking a sincere question. Comparing anything or anybody to Trump is a pretty pointless exercise.

It was semi serious. Trump is by far the worst option. Whilst Biden has achieved more than his opponents expected him to, can he keep going for another 6 or so years t9 the end of a second term? Is there really no one else the democrats can field? The belief that only Biden can beat trump is surely flawed.

You would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden. He got more votes than Obama got certainly.

It's no that no one else could beat Trump, it's that there's no one else (well, no one else with multimillion $$$ backing) that the Democrats can agree on. The catastrophic US electoral system does its thing.
