What a second half of the season for Kinghorn. Playing his part in two major final wins. Stuff dreams are made of.

Jonny Gray on the Bench for Bordeaux this Saturday vs Stade Français.
Hog on the team for Montpellier against Lyon.
Actually quite interested in how Hogg does after the year off.

Hogg had a decent first half and scored his first try.
Bossing the Montpellier backs in defence.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
I think he'll do well if fit. International days are behind him but already seen chatter about what would need to happen for him to play again. Won't happen.
I would never consider him for Scotland, and it wouldn't surprise me if privately he has told Montpellier he wouldn't make him self available.
There's going to be a lot of revisionism about Hoggs on field career based on what has happened off field.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
I was curious and there’s a video of all his involvements from the game on YouTube. He looks a lot leaner again, and I imagine better for it. Much lighter on his feet than the last few years he played for Scotland.
Still a dropped high ball, missed tackles and a couple of wayward kicks in there, but looks sharper than I’d have expected after this long out.
Hopefully he can channel some of his issues/frustration in a positive way as a player, rather than just being a bitch on Twitter. I don’t know that he can redeem himself as a public figure and role model but keeping his head down would be the best thing for everyone.
He had big flaws as a player but I agree this sentiment that he’s a bit of a twat and therefore never was a good player is ridiculous. Absolutely no way back for Scotland though.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rug ... e-29903390The 32-year-old, who scored on his debut for French side Montpellier at the weekend, has returned to Scotland to stand trial over domestic abuse and stalking charges. Hogg was due at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday having denied behaving in a way that caused his estranged wife, Gillian "fear and alarm" over a seven-year period between 2017 and 2024.
However, hours before the trial was due to get under way, it has emerged that the full-back has been arrested again over an alleged breach of bail conditions and stalking.
Incredible.

Depressing.
Taking nothing away from his abilities as a player, especially earlier in his career when he really was a great player, but unfortunately outside of rugby he appears to be a complete twat.

Or not abroad. John Jeffries won't be on so many jollies having withdrawn his bid to succeed Bill Beaumont as chair of World Rugby.
SRU refused to back him

He isn't.
I'm still looking for someone to point me towards positive contributions in his roles with WR or the SRL board.
Being Scottish isn't enough of a reason to support his bid imo.

Hogg played for Montpellier today, facing Toulouse with Kinghorn at full back. Toulouse win 20-11. Neither player scored but Hogg got a yellow card.

Ben White played for Toulon in a 14-10 win over Stade Francais.
Jonny Gray played for Bordeaux Bègles in a 52-34 win over Racing 92. Could we see him back in a Scotland shirt this season?

Is that a ball boy who gets completely wiped out by (the shove on) Ramos.

Looks like it. Ramos throws the ball to the ball boy, Hogg shoves Ramos who clatters into the ball boy then the handbags kicks off.

Ben White playing for Toulon.
Jonny Gray not in the 23 for Bordeaux against Toulouse who haven’t announced their team yet but I’d presume Kinghorn will be selected.
Down in England Russell and Bayliss selected for Bath, but no sign of Cam Redpath.
Hutchison playing for Northampton.
Andy Christie (who appears to have changed his name to Andy Onyeama-Christie) selected for Saracens.
Dylan Richardson playing hooker for the Sharks.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)
Interesting article in the Telegraph (of all places - you can just imagine the comments section!) about that the other day - apparently he has always been Onyeama-Christie, but whenever he tried to get it put on the back of a rugby shirt when he was younger in age grades, it ended up being shortened in a stupid fashion like "O' Christie", so he gave up and went by Christie instead (plus I'd imagine depressingly easier to avoid dealing with people and systems that couldn't cope with a Nigerian origin name). Saracens were doing a check on their DEI and he was the player rep involved, and they asked if there was any minor things they should be doing better on, so he explained about his shirt issues and they changed their shirt formatting to make sure they could fit longer surnames on.BaldiePete wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:38 pm Andy Christie (who appears to have changed his name to Andy Onyeama-Christie) selected for Saracens.
Hopefully Scotland will follow suit if he's picked in the autumn.

Maybe a silly question but Scotland don't have player names on the shirts do they?Puja wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 1:36 amInteresting article in the Telegraph (of all places - you can just imagine the comments section!) about that the other day - apparently he has always been Onyeama-Christie, but whenever he tried to get it put on the back of a rugby shirt when he was younger in age grades, it ended up being shortened in a stupid fashion like "O' Christie", so he gave up and went by Christie instead (plus I'd imagine depressingly easier to avoid dealing with people and systems that couldn't cope with a Nigerian origin name). Yes they do. This is from this years 6N. Van Der Merwe is 11 letters and 2 spaces. Onyeama-Christie Is 15 letters and a hyphen. They’ll need a smaller font or two rows.

Gray IS in the team for Bordeaux and Kinghorn has been selected on the left wing. I think that means he’s played 11, 14 and 15 already this season.BaldiePete wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:38 pm Ben White playing for Toulon.

Hutchison scored a try (and got a yellow card) for Northampton in their win over Exeter.
I completely forgot about Gus Warr, he scored a try in Sale’s loss to Saracens.
