...don't tell EJ there's a possible separated-at-birth thing with Woy's worriers..
quote from EJ on 5-live yesterday:
"The English characteristic is probably to be more on the negative side,"Jones said.
"It was interesting asking all the players how England was going to go in the European Championship - nearly every player said they are not going to do so well...."

Very diplomatically put.

Perhaps he should've asked Bale?

Ross looks a little more "special" to me, maybe one of those clones where the genes aren't quite holding together?

Wales/Ni and Portugal vs croatia should be fun games.

Aye, don't want to get too far ahead here but I think Wales V Belgium would be a belter of a game too. More so as Belgium will be looking for revenge for the 1-0 defeat in Cardiff during qualifying.

The Swiss should have wrapped this up but, along with some wonderful goalkeeping from Fabianski, have squandered some great opportunities. Its been all them since HT.

Polaks thro' to 8's..on pens.
Never the best way to settle a KO meeting but there'll be plenty more.
Hope Woy has had 'em practicing..

Gotta feel for NI. The team and their fans did themselves proud.

France attacked very well with the extra player. They could've scored a few more.

They're starting to come to life at the right time but Ireland frustrated them in the first half and they were ordinary in the group stage.

Perhaps there's hope for England yet? Well, in terms of being able to play themselves into form. It's not so great that we'll have to play a France team in good form if we manage to beat Iceland.

England could still be playing Slovakia now and it would still be 0-0.

Germany went 1-0 up against them after 7 minutes and Ozil has just seen a penalty saved a few minutes later!

Goals Woy, goals!

Germany at a canter 3-0...Neuer yet to concede after 6 hrs. played in the finals.
limbering up nicely.
Can't win'em all mind - Samoa beat them in the Olympic sevens quals. recently, though it was a close call...

Hazard has been very impressive tonight!

Gotta credit Hungary for having a go.

Hazard has just smashed in the third, a minute or so after setting up the second.

Quarter-finals
QF1: Poland v Portugal
 – Thursday 30 June, 21:00 (Marseille)
QF2: Wales v Belgium – Friday 1 July, 21:00 (Lille)
QF3: Germany v Italy/Spain – Saturday 2 July, 21:00 (Bordeaux)
QF4: France v England/Iceland – Sunday 3 July, 21:00 (Saint-Denis)

The bigger nations are easing through -
Lothar reminded us that Italy are very much Germany's bogey team in that they have failed to beat them in 8 meetings at major finals.

So, it's a 'win or bust' tie and what does Woy do.......

That's right, he starts Sterling. The one player, more than anyone else who has absolutely failed to take his chances in this tournament. According to sources, he will replace Lallana, who has, imho, played pretty well.

In other rumours, Kane, another poor performer for England so far will also be starting alongside a short of fitness Sturridge.

Hart, Walker, Cahill, Smalling, Rose, Alli, Dier, Rooney, Sterling, Kane, Sturridge.

So we'll see Vardy, Lallana and Wilshere from the bench. Gotta feel for Barkley. He's a player capable of giving England what they need through the middle but he's unlikely to see a single minute of game time in this tournament.

Iceland will be up for this. They have absolutely nothing to lose plus they will be able to leave Sterling unmarked knowing that he will probably fall over the ball or run it out of play. They'll have 11 players in their own half for much of the game and try to negate the wonderful England attack then counter when they get the chance. Just imagine, if they're able to hold us, take us to extra time and then beat us on penalties! All it needs is a disciplined defence and we're screwed.

Genius Woy, just bloody genius.
