I can't tell if you're being serious. I'm assuming nobody would consider her smart due to anything seen in this video?
Serious.. She did her job well. She isnt there to give details or allow the press to run wild with too much info.
It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.

She did, she did her job of denying truth very well - as did Chemical Ali until those American tanks appeared over his shoulder.

I have to agree with Coco. Its all about presenting a flawless and consistent facade. God forbid that they stuck someone up there who was able to talk sense or taint their comments with the slightest hint of rationality or truth.

I don't see how there can be any clearer sign of being flustered and unable to answer a question with any sort of integrity than just saying That's not the point / Trump has the nation's best interests at heart / Full stop / Communication pathway / Media-spin / Period / Next question in response to absolutely everything.

What is the point of allowing questions if her job is to simply not answer any of them?

I can't wait for Trump to start doing the press briefings himself. The threat of limiting press access to fortnightly briefings by the great man himself is a worry, in terms of his attempts to stifle the press and control information, but he'd end up having a meltdown, insult everyone in the room and would make Spicer look like a seasoned professional in comparison.

Are you new to politics? The point is to not be seen to be limiting press freedom whilst only ever getting out the message that you are pushing.

I've seen Sanders do a couple of press briefings. She clearly has more natural ability than Spicer to remain calm, but as first glance, you could be forgiven for thinking it was another SNL piss take.

For all his power, money and clout, Trump is still unable to surround himself with intelligent people.
It's an enigma. On the one hand he has recruited some very capable people. Yet he also has hired some utterbuffoons.

I think he looks for loyalty first, hence the numerous family members hanging around. Then it's people who are from the same political sphere as him. He isn't he first politician to need yesmen surrounding him, but he also seems to push that need to a whole new level.

The "capable" people he has are all corporate stooges. They know that through this orange muppet, they have their best crack at social security and government owned infrastructure in decades. They are playing him. Meanwhile the orange dick balls is stirring up every pig ignorant racist he can. Poor old Khan is the butt of some none too subtle "alternative facts" about the UK at the moment. Trump is an unmitigated thundercunt reveling in being a flat track bully while the crops burn around him.

Well... yeah.

I'm not sure how to respond further without prompting a long, dull conversation about what constitutes limiting press freedom.

Tillerson is the only one who has impressed me since taking office. Quite surprising considering his oil industry background.

Theresa May here giving Trump both barrels. That'll definitely shut him up.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40172537

I liked this bit too

White House adviser Sebastian Gorka defended the president's comments, saying he was making a "very valid point".
He told BBC Newsnight: "We have to jettison political correctness. We have to apply honesty to the threat and saying, 'It's just business as usual, don't worry about a thing', [is] a Pollyannaish attitude to a threat that has killed 170 people in the last two years in Europe alone and maimed more than 700."

Trump Jnr. also goes to great lengths to show that he didn't read/hear/understand what Kahn said either. It's quite impressive really.

I wouldn't describe Mattis as being a corporate stooge either. From what I know of him, he would stand his ground with trump.

Completely agree that trumps treatment of Kahn is a disgrace. With friends like that.....

Being better than Sean Spicer does not make her a "smart cookie". Being able to hilariously badly deflect idiocy does not maker her a "smart cookie". And above all else, having anything to do with this shit show of a administration does not make her a "smart cookie".

I know Republicans set the bar low on intelligence but I'm sure you can find someone better than this, Coco, as your bastion of appeal.

Anyone know how the recent marches against Trump went? Saw plenty of interest on Twitter in the build up, but it seems there wasn't much in the news.

Was it a case of low turnout/damp squib?

Aye, it works both ways though.

Within seconds of the tiny handed tyrant Tweeting, there's dozens of replies either mocking him with rhetorical questions and 'humourous' memes, or showing blind support with the use of memes demonizing Obama, Clinton and anyone else who Trump has singled out with alt-facts.

Politics in the US is like a form of religion for some it seems. It's like some supporters from either side just can't see any wrong in the person or party they support. I'm sure the same can be said of many other places and I know people in the UK are passionate about campaigning and politics, but I've honestly never seen anything like what happens in the US.

The build up to the election and the aftermath have been a real eye opener.

I can remember watching a Republican rally a few years ago and the crowd were being riled up against whoever was standing for the Democrats. The person speaking was accusing the other fella of flip-flopping and the crowd rejoiced with "flip-flop, flip-flop!" whilst waving pairs of flip-flops in the air. It would not have surprised me to find out that someone was selling the flip-flops at the entrance. It was almost evangelical watching the GOP 'minister' preaching the good word to his followers, zealots even.

I've seen similar reactions at Democrat events too.

It's just bizarre.

It's a poor substitute for credible, informed policy, that's what it is.

Speaking of policy, check out President Dumkopff's attempted turn around on Quatar.....he's like a fucking goldfish.

10 minutes FaceTime with Dondon yields a potential shift in legislation geared towards your own personal bias. Burlosconi looks sophisticated by comparison.
