I think you may be using those terms in a way that's specific to your area of work; I don't think they quite have that meaning to most people.

If I started using "trivial" outside of maths or "coupon" outside of finance, that might be confusing too...
Can I take it you've never run a programme? I'm the COO of an NHS service provider, having spent 30 + years in several big IT firms in different roles and sectors, so its hardly narrow. In any case, I started with what was my own personal view of how to describe the working parts and their 'roles', I also said it was a tad semantic, and you wanted to ramble on about it. I'm not in the slightest bit interested in what 'most people' would understand by the terms, even accepting your opinion on that- my teams certainly do, and I certainly am accountable for their actions ultimately.
You said accountable, I said responsible, I was perfectly happy to broadly agree with you on that and leave it there but you insisted that you didn't quite agree, so I asked you to explain.

Insisted? " I prefer accountable, but that's a tad semantic ". Then it all kicked off  , though i was in hindsight also complicit in perpetuating the verbiage.

Per capita rolling 7-day average: Brazil leads, Sweden & Peru second, Mexico lurches up into fourth, UK fifth.

Glad you both agree! If you start mentioning PRINCE2 methodolgies on here though the sanctions will be harsh!

And in the face of that depressing news, the Brazilian president wants to immediately relax all restrictions on movement.

I don't know what that means. And I think I'd like it to stay that way. :)

Well, Boris and Cummings will be pleased: Brazil will overtake the UK in total deaths fairly soon.

Sounds perfect.

The ITIL courses I took a few years ago were amongst the most tedious I have ever attended, the only saving grace was the humour provided by the instructor.

Were you on version 3? If so I consulted on that so my apologies, though I will say they pretty much ignored me, actually they entirely ignored me. I thought it should be a useful way to start to frame thoughts/processes, and they thought it should be a way to make money, and then lots more money. So I can understand them ignoring me

R > 1 areas, & planned protests.
Interesting cross-over between Covid-19 response, anti-racism march & freedom to protest.
It would be disappointing if the distancing rules were ignored, especially in areas still with high infection rates.
Many of the protestors will be returning to families later, maybe with parents and grandparents in the household;
(Lives do matter..)
At least they will be peaceful, with no violence, damage to buildings/property, or any looting whatsoever, that would just compound the situation. :|

Yeah, version3. Did the foundation and a couple of intermediate courses. It’s had an occasional use but IVe not seen the requirement to update to version 4 and can’t face that course again.

I think it’s fair to say that social distancing went out of the window.

Social distancing has gone everywhere. Went to the shops today - I was the only person wearing a mask and no-one was even trying to stay 2m from each other. Morr to the point, people were looking at my mask and cracking wise about it, like I was a weirdo stuck in last month.

I think coronavirus is now officially fixed in the minds of a good percentage of the British public.

The government has been quite effective in achieving this perception. I assume that's what they've been aiming at.

That’s harsh. They want people to use common sense. Sadly, that’s not all that common. It is a difficult message to get across.

If you want people to do something, you sack people who don’t do that. The government has dug this whole, don’t deflect blame.

If people here can wear masks, people in the UK can.
