Was I the only one watching Earl running down the wing before that try and firmly expecting that he was going to kick it?

Tackling optional. Steward beaten by Matsushima with embarrassing ease.

Defensive system disintegrating in the face of the revolutionary approach of running fast with the ball in both hands.

Marler plays the turnstile to create two breaks for Japan - mayhap that substitution was 5 minutes late.

Not often England would be glad of Ben Young's coming on

He walked past Marler and then pushed Mitchell away like he was a clingy toddler. Pathetic few minutes in defence.

This game has taken about 5 hours. With the water breaks we're getting to American Football levels.

Daly again in space and with support. Kicks it out. FFS. Even when it looks like the attack might actually do something we kick it.

Will W. Stuart be the first ever player to be given a minus rating in the papers?

I was going to praise him for speeding things up, but then he started passing above people's heads to slow things down, so normal service.

The Swedish commentators have stopped paying attention and are just chatting. It's got like test match special.

First a turnover and then chasing down the Japanese player for the 5m scrum. Ben Youngs adding to the defence? That's new.

Crossfield kick off the weaker foot from Ford. Perfect and Steward catches one to score. That's actually nice.
