Re: V Highlanders
I didn't think the Landers would have the cattle for this, but it's a cracking match so far.
Bit too much headless chook stuff again though.

Hell of a good take by Seymour on the run.

Lions very hard to break down. That's great defence.

The Highlanders ball security has been utterly abysmal tonight. So many wasted opportunities.

Yeah, but they're winning it back without much fuss either.

Both sides have been quite loose with the ball but certainly made for an exciting game. Far better than the turgid stuff of the weekend just gone. Well played Highlanders.zer0 wrote:The Highlanders ball security has been utterly abysmal tonight. So many wasted opportunities.

Brilliant result for the Highlanders. Lions absolutely pathetic - in every game so far.

They are pathetic. They stutter against depleted club teams.El Tigre wrote:Yeah. That's in no way an exaggeration!hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Brilliant result for the Highlanders. Lions absolutely pathetic - in every game so far.

Re: V Highlanders
Poor discipline at the breakdown and set piece (and obviously Farrell
) cost them the game. They can't expect to win when giving up 15 penalties.
Still not sure I'd go as far as absolutely pathetic though.

Re: V Highlanders
It's all relative. I'm of the belief that there are a set of players & coaches with a game plan that that could sweep aside the club teams and be competitive with the ABs. So yes... relatively speaking they are absolutely dreadful and pathetic.El Tigre wrote:Poor discipline at the breakdown and set piece (and obviously Farrell) cost them the game. And the winner is... the stadium. Don't think I have ever seen a bad game played there. Hope Chch builds one soon. Might encourage us to be a bit more adventurous.
Apart from that, about right result wise. Lions would probably have won if they hadn't pulled a few players to save their legs. Webb in particular stands out.
I see Lawes knocked 7 bells out of himself (or should that be 7 bells into himself being Lawes). Stander improved int he 2nd half. Needed to, he seemed to be a one man penalty machine for the first 40.
Think the ABs have picked the right midfield. Fekitoa did himself no favours on a couple of occasions.

no, he was desparate in the first half.Mikey Brown wrote:Did Seymour make a case?
JJ had a mixed game, playing well in the main, but bounced once crucially and dropped the final pass, albeit bulleted at his chest.

Bit mixed; 80% good, but bounced a couple of times, and dropped the ball in the last play.Puja wrote:How's Joseph looking? I'm stuck at work so I can't watch.

Can't think of any that put their hand up for a test spot but quite a few confirmed they will not be bothering the 23.Banquo wrote:no, he was desparate in the first half.Mikey Brown wrote:Did Seymour make a case?

Bet you wouldn't now....Eugene Wrayburn wrote:I'm pretty sure it will be North, Watson and 1/2p with Williams on the bench. I'd probably choose Seymour Watson and Williams.Mikey Brown wrote:Who are we currently viewing as the frontrunners the Test back 3?
I feel like Watson is there somewhere. Is that it?

Re: V Highlanders
Took his try well, tackled hard, dropped a kick that he would normally catch with his eyes shut. But he suffered from the same problem all of the Lions' back 3 have suffered from: nobody is creating space for them. Not enough organisation and not enough creativity.Mikey Brown wrote:Did Seymour make a case?
