I’m not sure how he isn’t tied to Italy, but if he feels he has an outside chance of getting on the England radar, I doubt he’d commit to Italy just yet. It’s not as though he’s following in his dad’s footsteps and Italy can’t claim to have played a particularly significant part in his development.

Maybe although it would be hard to see him get past Underhill and the twin curries. Thats assuming Simmons isn't going to be looked at in the 7 shirt aswell.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Underhill is the clear favourite, but it looks like Simmonds is being considered as an 8 and the Currys have a single cap between them.

If Polledri keeps putting in MoM performances for Gloucester, I don’t see any reason why he can’t get a look in. From what I’ve seen he’s very physical and aggressive but also has pace and good footwork in the loose. That’s an attractive combination.

On the few occassions they’ve had both Lewis Ludlum and Will Evans have looked convincing openside options and I would put them in the same bracket as the Curry Twins and possibly Simmonds as an attacking openside option to work in tandem with the greater physicality and defence of Underhill (whom I hope may succeed Robshaw in the 6 berth in due course).

I wouldn’t regard Evans as particularly physical. Definitely not in the same way as Underhill or Polledri.

Don’t get me wrong, he has bags of potential, but more as a linking openside who is good at the breakdown. He’s the type that is always on the shoulder of whoever is making the break rather than the type to bust through tackles. His defence is good, but I wouldn’t class him as a destructive tackler.

Think he was saying would work well in tandem with a physical type like Underhill. In fact, that's what he did say
