Feel sorry for him - it's clearly at the level of hobby, no comparison with his salary.
It was very silly, but it's serious and had to be dealt with.

Why? The typical sports fan know very vaguely about these rules. A top flight coach would have been briefed on this in depth, he knew what he was doing and deserves no sympathy.

I'm no fan of Howley. I've wanted him gone for a very, very long time.
But this was not malicious, or for gain in any serious sense. It was just a stupid, stupid thing to do, and more a human tragedy than anything else.
So it had to be dealt with, but there's still room for sympathy.
