It's a completely different, and to my mind vastly superior, story.
I'll give it a go, thanks Eugene.

Go for it. It is very different. I didn't get on that well with BE after the first couple of series but then that's about 48 episodes in rather than the rather tighter and more character driven pieces you tend to get in a 6 episode British series.

The third season was poor, it picks up again nicely after that, worth sticking with imo.

The end of 3 was pretty entertaining though. It seemed to get caught between trying to be several different kinds of show.
I'm tempted to try Peaky Blinders. Cillian Murphy is generally pretty good.

Can't recommend Peaky Blinders enough. It really is first rate.

I'm enjoying iZombie for reasons I can't really explain. It's like Buffy if she became a good vampire, only in this case it's a Zombie, who uses chilli sauce to make brains palatable. It sounds shit and it probably is, but I'm loving it.

Falling Skies is a pretty good invasion of Earth (aka Murica) series, which may run out of ideas before the end of season 2.

Daredevil is starting to get a bit meh, but the girls are good.

Person of Interest is keeping a pretty good standard after several seasons, with Amy Acker who plays a character called Root providing a scaryish portrayal of an unhinged hacker. Oh, and Taraji P. Henson (

Giving it a go.
The accents are... interesting.
Pretty much all pilots seem a bit shit so I'll give it some more time.

I love Person of Interest. It's very silly but great fun and the characters are very likeable. 4 seasons in it's still every bit as enjoyable.
Falling Skies does run out of ideas and then starts repeating itself.
Anyone else watch Grimm? It's great.

I can't understand them. I had to watch with subtitles on. I gave up on it in the end.

Aye. I don't imagine the Brummie accent comes easily to many foreigners, assuming the accents here are remotely accurate anyway.
I have to say 3 episodes in it's kind of all over the place. I've already lost count of how many little music video segments there have been.

One of my favourite cultural experiences outside of a zoo was fending off the advances of a Brummie attempting to give me some sponge cake in a train station in Crewe. Find a Brummie, and make the say "sponge cake". It's magic.

I absolutely love the Brummie accent. It never fails to make me laugh.

Do watch:
Occupied. A Norwegian political thriller, apparently based on a Jo nesbo story.
Spin. A French political thriller.
Both available on All4, I think.
ETA Occupied is on Sky Demand. I cannot recommend it enough. Filled with evil russians. You'll love it jared...

Agree re Line of Duty - watch them in order though.
I've more or less given up on Man in High Castle, it started well, I doubt I will find out if it does pick up again.
Haven't seen any Pesky Blinkers but will give it a try.
What I have been watching, binge watching in fact, is Suits on Netflix. I'll be bereft when I get through them all.

How many seasons through are you on Suits? I really loved the first few. There's a point when it all gets a bit too emotional rather than fun.

I'm about half way through series 2 at the moment - just in the run up to the fraud trial.

Its a fun show but you could substitute "fraud trial" with "takeover attempt" and between the two you pretty much cover every single season.
Anyone see the first episode of Preacher? What the f*ck was that about???

Well, it's about lawyers that's kind of what we do. Besides I mean the fraud trial against the firm which has been running largely in the background throughout S2 so far.

Just watched the first episode of Cleverman. Looks like it could be that rarity of rarities, a good Australian TV programme. Seems to be mixing near future sci-fi, aboriginal mysticism and good old moralism.

Narcos is very, very good. The Night Manager is up there with anything HBO have put out. BBC at its very best.
Big call! You reckon it was as good as The Wire/The Sopranos/Curb Your Enthusiasm?

I've watched 4 episodes of Peaky Blinders. I want to think it's good, but... is it? What am I missing? It's quite watchable but I can't say any aspect of it is very convincing, though a lot of shows take a while to settle down.
Though I thought the night manager was terrible.

Whats not to like? it looks and sounds great. Cillian Murphy is a brilliant lead, ably supported by a superb cast with the added bonus of the wonderful Tom Hardy in last nights programme. The scene when he was goading Arthur, who just managed to stop himself from whacking him with an ashtray, was scintillating.
